I am going to be installing in the near future a set of 295 50 15 on a set of steel wheels 15/8 for my 72 GS clone. I have a set of dog dish hubcaps and would like to get some trim rings for them also. However buick has a nice design that are slightly diffrent than other trim rings (IE Chevy and so one) and so I was wondering if any one knew if buick used a 15" trim ring on any of the cars they produced.

    Thanks

Yes Buick used trim rings on the painted wheels. Most were 14x6 through 72, some of the 73-74's had 15x7's. The trim rings for the 15's I have seen appear to be the same as the Chevy. The 14" trim rings are a different design.

    Phil,
I had a 70 Stage 1 4-speed that was originally equipped with G60-15 Goodyear Polyglass tires on 15x7 Steel wheels with dog dish hub caps and trim rings. It was the "Sport Wheel" option for 70.

My GS was also originally built with this option - It's the F4 sales code.

I finally contacted someone who worked at my selling dealership (prior owner's son) and he told me the dealership would order cars with this tire option because it was cheaper, then put on the chrome rallye rims to move it. Typically, cars on the lot with these wheels wouldn't sell :pp

It's ironic now that many people like them (including myself) :3gears:

Duane, Compared to the 14" trim rings did the 15" have the same lip contour or did they use more of a chevy flat style. Thanks everyone. David and Marco thanks for your help also. :beer

    Phil,
I got the tires and the dogdishes, now I'm just waiting on my steel rims. I ordered 15x10's from Stockton a couple weeks ago and they should be ready to ship today (that reminds me that I have to call them). I got them in 5.5" backspacing. The one thing with the trim rings is I think they'll look out of place with the wide wheel. On the factory 15x7 the trim ring will go back to the piece where it's fastened to the axle, but with having 4.5" sticking out front from a 10" wheel there will be a gap. I'm not sure if they can custom make a set of trim rings for a 15x10 wheel, you might want to ask?

I am going to be using a stock backspace on a 15/8 steel wheel. So I will order a set of the 15/8 trim rings... Thanks Guys.... :beer
