i just found some a set of 14x6 buick rally rims plus a matching spare for my 72 skylark from a tire shop down the street from my house. there in pretty decent shape. all 5 of them come with the center caps. they just need to be cleaned up and tires put on them..

so my question is whats the best way to clean and polish them up and what tools do i need, so i can get the best look out of these rims.

also the biggest tire i can fit on these are 225/70/R14 right?
these rims should look a whole lot better than the stock black ugly rims thats on the car now now..

edit. another quick question what would be the best color and paint to buy so the black part of of the rim will look original?

Thanks for any and all help
    Grant.

Good chrome polish. Lots of elbow grease. Plenty of masking tape. Lots of patience. Sand off the rust. Black primer. Satin black paint.

I use carb cleaner on a rag to wipe off any overspray on the chrome when dry.

when I had 14x6 wheels on my old car I ran 245-60-14 all around.
    No issues and looked sweet

245r60x14 is too wide a tire for 6 inch rims. u need 7" rims for a 260r60 tire.
i ran 225r70x14 bfg tires on my old 14x6 rallye rims. i have 15x7 rallyes with 245r60x15 bfg tires.
