I installed an HEI distributor on my 70 455 Skylark. This was accomplished by running a wire to the battery, back to a toggle switch inside the car, and then to the distributor. It works, but I would like to eliminate the extra wiring.
Where is a convenient 12V source nearby to hook the wire to? Since I have already wrapped the wiring I would like to refrain from tearing into the harness, but I'll do what is necessary.
    Thanks!

    Russ,
If you follow the original coil + wire back through the harness, it will end up at the front half of the fuse block(bulkhead connector). Along the way it will be joined by a wire from the "R" terminal of the starter solenoid. The bulkhead connector comes apart(bolt in the middle). The wires clip into the front half with special clips(available from NAPA, or reuse your original). Replace the wire with a length of 14 gauge wire, and you will have full time 12 volts for your HEI. Year one sells the wire with the clip attached, and the proper connector for the HEI. Notice the barb type clip in the picture. The clip snaps into the front half of the bulkhead connector Do it once, do it right.:TU:
