found a guy that has a 12 bolt 3.73 posi from a 67 chevelle but all the mounts have been cutoff to fit in a nova
can the upper mounts be welded back on to the pumpkin (may cut off mine from my 8.2 and weld on) or is this a cast material like exhaust manifolds that dont respond well to welding
hes asking 500 but if i gotta cutup my rear ill offer less
or can a guy buy all the mounts seperately and save ruining another housing

Are you talking about the spring pads or the ears on the pumkin for the control arms?
Spring pads yes and I think they can the ears.

NO you can not weld the upper CAST center section UPPER control arm mounting loops back on. Welding cast is just too unpredictable at BEST.

That rear will have to be a leaf spring rear for good now. Eveything else is possible to weld back on BUT really TOO much work for what you can get a 12 bolt rear for. 300-400 will get you a goods housing still.

Ladder bars bolt to the lower control arm mounts; so, I don't see how that would help at all . . . :Do No:

I picked up a relatively nice housing for $300 a couple years ago, including all the guts and brakes. They're still out there. Keep searching!

    Charlie,
You already have the 8.5" in your car(72 Skylark).....just ask Monzaz...they are great rear axles and can handle a lot of power....so build what you have and be set.
