I just got a 12-bolt series 3 Eaton posi, an A-body 12-bolt housing and after-market axles for a song. The 1st problem is the the gears are blue from heat, the posi unit is completely disassembled and I'm missing some obvious parts. The 2nd problem is... I don't have enough experience to know what's obviously missing or how this unit goes back together. So, I need an exploded assembly drawing w/ part names. I've done some searches on line and looked for a "How to" book at the local parts store, but so far I've had no luck. Any help would greatly be appreciated. TIA
Jim, I couldn't figure out how to attach an image to a PM, or maybe it was the beer. :beers2: At any rate, here's the image of the internal parts that came with the posi housing. I know that I'm missing the spider gear shaft, one of the half moon clutch/disk keeper things and the spring assembly. I also don't see any type of trigger or torque sensing device that locks/unlocks the unit. I'm sure there are other parts I need. So, you got any core 12 bolt units that we can scavenge parts from?... I'll buy them of course. Let me know,
It's my guess that most of the parts I need do not come in a rebuild kit. From what I've seen the rebuild kits are mainly shims, bearings and clutch disks. Then again... I could be wrong, it wouldn't be the first time. Besides... I technically don't have the money to do this right now (my interior has been but on the back burner) so if I can get good used parts I will.
