Hello all I found a 12 bolt posi with 3.08 gears in a 72 chevy pick-up, the guy says that it will fit, but I'm still wondering. Please help me with any info, I don't know what model pick up he pulled it from either. Please tell me if this is remotely possible. thanks fatboybuick.
Truck 12 bolts are different than car 12 bolts. If you have one of those big LeSabre/Centurion type bodies with the 10 bolt cover and a 12 bolt carrier, then you have either a 28 spline or 31 spline axle. That is different than the Chevy car 12 bolt, which has 30 spline. Gears between all three are not interchangeable. So the answer is no, no, and no.
I know some one that has a couple of those units. If you want me to call him on them please PM me I will do so. You need to know what axle sline you have 28 or 31. Jim
Well my car is a 72 limited, from what I believe, it has a 12 bolt cover, I havn't physically been underneath, but this is what I should have if I understand everything right from this site.
