i have a 71 gs 12 bolt (8.5) and i broke my yoke taking it apart. anyone know what else will fit. local parts stores are stumped. thanks tlundbom@hotmail.com
a 12 bolt and an 8.5 are two different rear ends but a replacement should be hard for either to get 8.5 rears are basiclly still used and 12 bolt can be had from summit as well as moser confirm rear end type
Post some pictures and will ID the thing. need a yoke area shot and rear cover shot. how many spline yoke is it? Question? Hi, My Mechanic Is Working On Car In Washington. We Are In Arizona For The Winter. We Are Restoring A 72 Gs To A 455 Stage 1 With A 10 Bolt Rearend. I Have 71 Parts Car That Had A 12 Bolt And I Ordered A Disk Brake Conversion For It Before I Had It Apart. Then Put In New Bearings And Seals. Went Looking For A Posi And Found All Kinds Of Things That These 273 Gears Do Not Convert To A Posi Without A Total Change Internally. When I Took It Apart We Hammered On The Yoke And Have A Small Chip On The Corner. We Will Keep Your Number And Will Call When Have Your Questions Resolved. Thanks For Response. Tom Lundbom,
