    Are you sure that it is 3.23 gear? I have never seen 3.23 gears for a Chevy 12 bolt, only a 10 bolt or an Olds 12 bolt have had 3.23 gears. Check the ratio again and look on the housing for stampings and on the center section for casting #'s and post them, thanks.

    The Chevy 12 bolt did not come with a 3.23 gear. It went 3.08 then 3.31, 3.42 etc. Better count the teeth on the ring and pinion and see what it actually is. If its a 3.23 then its a 8.5 or 8.2.
