to properly install a ring and pinion you want to have an assortment of pinion shims, carrier shims new carrier and pinion bearings and races, good pattern grease, 3.8 torque wrench and a dial torque wrench to measure pinion and carrier preload. and a dial indicator to check backlash.

Don, Yes we have a kit- PM me and will get you all the prices. I think i have enough 3.73 gears for all that are interested.

What about your carrier? you have 2.56 gears are you buying a carrier also or a spacer kit? Please PM me if you do not understand

    2.41 2.56 ratio are on a 2 series carrier
2.73-4.56 and beyond are on a 3 series carrier

This is for posi or non posi.

462 chevelle got it about spot on- If you really want to do it right just get the install kit as it will have everything you need to totally rebuild the center of the rear end NEW AGAIN.

If you are going from 2.56 you will need a 3 series carrier or a spacer kit which we sell too.

Also have posi units and open 3 series open 3 series will be the cheapest way at 25.00 you can not beat it. :) Posi is much more but fun to have to spin both tires. Jim

    Jim,

I am interested in the 2.73 for the 8.5 rear end. Is anything needed to use on a 3 series carrier?
