Hello. I have a bearing/race kit for an 8.5 10 bolt, new in the vacuum sealed box. I need bearings/races for a 12 bolt (car) rear. Will they (or maybe some of them) work on a 12 bolt? Where is the cheapest place to get the bearing/races if none of them will work?
    Thanx.

John, your best bet is to sell those off to someone who's building a 8.5 and use the money towards the 8.875 kit. The only thing the same is the pinion tail bearing and race. (M88048/M88010) Its not worth taking just those bearings out of your kit. Oh and please don't buy "cheap" when replacing differential components, its not worth the failure in the long run. Later..Tim

Personally I favor TIMKEN bearings (must be in the name) through my supplier but there are others like BCA & Federal Mogul. I've never ordered a Ratech kit through a company like Summit Racing so I'm not sure what is in them. Maybe if Jim and or Roger reads this they could give some other suggestions as well. Good luck playing with your rearend :Dou: That doesn't sound right

One of those deals where its good to have a strong customer relationship with local parts stores.
What brand of bearings & races are they(?), I might be able to help you out.

Thanx guys, good info. I just got back from Carquest, where I know a parts guy. He said the bearings they sell are great, made in Germany. In the past he sent me somewhere else to get a better product. Anyway, I bought 4 new bearings/races. I will set the 8.5" kit aside.
    Thanx again.
