I played around with some different electric fan setups in the turbo car. I completely agree with Larry's statement.
I second this. I think it's likely there are more mk8 fans out there anymore than there are actual mk8's. They're simple, effective, and reliable. I think a lot of the hate e-fans get are from folks expecting cheapies to do the job. An electric fan is an electric fan, they're all the same right? Wrong. But there are some good ones out there. I've had absolutely zero problems with mine, no regrets.
Yep, the Mark VIII fan is an awesome one (as is the Taurus from the same era, most just don't realize it can also be used and is a two speed). But, I've got aftermarket electric fans on all my stuff. No mechanical fan connected to the water pump is going to cool the Mustang like the twin Derales I have on it. 552" and it will idle all day long until it runs out of gas in 100+ degree heat and won't get above 130 degrees if I don't want it to. There's a few reasons every new car has electric fans: More HP, better fuel mileage, less wear on the water pump. What's not to like?
