Read "Don't Fill 'Er Up" about half way down the page. In fact, read the whole thing! good info. http://circletrack.com/tipstricks/139_0306_oil_tips/ I'm not that brave!
I have heard about that in nhra stock classes before. I guess when they are trying to set the record they do that, read it in car craft or hot rod mag..
No Oil !!! Gary Penn is talking about the GM sponsored cars in Top Stock. Most competitors do the same except me. don't think the Buick would last that long!!! Also less than a quart in rear end. Heads up competition, gotta love it! Tom
Heard people at the drag strip with race only cars running 10w-30 motor oil in the rear. The viscosity never breaks down due to no heat for such short 1/8 mile runs. Never heard what the et gain was.
Interesting. I guess you could also do the same to a stick tranny. Run some straight 30w oil or ATF like a GM T5 / T56, That should give some gains over 80/90? I would think things like the trans or rear end a straight weight oil would be better, then a multy.
I'm not endorsing ATF in the rear (haven't tried it myself) but I seen it done for qualifying purposes. Mike Pollack used it once for qualifying at a Buick Super 8 race in MD. His trans was going 1-3 but still ran quicker than 1-2-3 with gear oil!
