    My good friend bought one of these supercharged 03 Cobra's a few weeks ago, he also has a 85' GT with a 408" stroker motor(10.90@125 mufflers/slicks with a 5 speed)and a 93' Lightning(tow vehicle).
He dynoed this 03 when new(untouched stock), made 365hp and 350ftlb at the rear wheels with very flat torque curve with only a few hundred miles on it.
After some changes, shifter, air inlet and filter, X-pipe exhaust with magnaflow mufflers(still has cats), smaller upper pulley for supercharger, new chip for computer, 1500mi on it today made 450hp and 460ftlb at rear wheels on same dyno:jd:.
After the changes this thing rips for a new plush car(power everything), really pulls HARD on the top end charge.
Just thought i would share as i like all performance cars.
Some of the guys are running high 11's/low 12's on stock rubber with above mods.
I'm not a ford guy but they got a good thing going with this 03' Cobra Mustang...........

I'm not a Ford guy either, but if Ford keeps this up, I may become one. That is a strong car!

    cobra's

I just sold my 99 Cobra convertible to finance the resto on my 71 GS convertible and I can tell you that Cobra's are SWEEEEET cars.
I never got a chance to put a supercharger on mine but even without it The only thing new that could beat it was a C5 vette or a viper. If I could afford a new 03 I would jump at the chance.
I still get Mustang muscle and fast ford, they tested one with the blower pully change and pulled the air filter, front sway bar and ran 11.63 with it. Someone want to loan me 35k:Brow: :Do No:

It must have been one of those that smoked me a few weeks ago. Even though my Skylark doesn't run right, it pulls very hard after 50 mph, so I'm fairly confident against newer Mustangs on the freeway. Late one night I met up with one cruising on I 71, so I figured it would be close even if I lost. WRONG. That little Mustang really moved! I was quite impressed.

My brother just ordered his. Black with chrome wheels. These things are running mid 12's right off the showroom floor. A chip, FIPK, smaller pulley and an exhaust and you are deep into the 11's. Not bad for an air-conditioned, power window, 20+ mpg ride!

I've been saying it for years and usually get slammed for it, but some new cars have real balls and will kill any old car-stock for stock-easily....whatever your choice of comparison.

The Bird and Camaro(now gone of course, stupid GM), Veette, Mustang(and Cobra) and of course halo cars like the Viper etc are excellent all around performers....and there is a new round coming like the 350Z, Infiniti G35 sport coupe, New RX7, offer 300NET hp and lightweight bodies...awesome handling and good manners...look out!!

Still love my GS's of course.

My T/A with the all aluminum LS1 is awsome. The above is a road test result from Hi Perf. Pontiac Magazine. Not bad for all power and 500 watt 10 disc, speaker stereo. Handles like its on rails to. Power is smoothe and plenty. Real mileage is 21mpg. Here is a link to the road test if anyone is interested.

    thx

    F-Bodies Rule!

I have to agree with pakual regarding the LS1 T/A's, I have a 2002 WS6 Ram-Air TA and I wouldn't trade it for an '03 cobra! I get 19-20MPG in town, and 28-29 on a trip going 70+ the whole way (28.9 on the trip to GS Nats this year).

Unfortunately, I haven't met up with an '03 yet while driving the Buick, I really want to see one of these guys lose to grandma's rusty old buick

I did run into one, however, when I was out in my TA, Here's a re-post of the kill story I put up on LS1.com. The results are certainly not what I expected!!!!!

So I'm out last night cruising the carlisle pike and run into one of
the new '03 Cobras. Very nice car! I pulled up next to him at a light
and asked if he wanted to run over on PA 114, the local race spot. He
obliged. I figured I didn't have a chance in hell at winning, I just
wanted to see/hear an '03 run!
So we line it up on 114, he counts to 3 and we go. The cobra pulls
about 1/2 car through 1st gear, then he drops wayyy back. He missed
2nd gear _real_ bad. I guess he's still gettin used to the T-56! We
pull in at sheetz after the race and talk for a little, he says he's
stock except for an open element air cleaner, and has about 2600 miles
on it. He says that he has beat every F-body he's been up against so
far, and he wants to run me again. Of course, I'm up for it.
We go back and do the same race as last time, and this time he ran it
better. He started to pull in 1st, his shift was before mine, which
dropped him back so we were even again. The same scenario played out
in 2nd gear, and we were dead even until about 4500 RPM in 3rd, and,
even though I couldn't believe it, I started pulling away!!! I shifted
into 4th and once his front bumper was at my rear (~100 MPH), he let
out of it, as did I.
We pulled up to the next light, and his friend in the car was getting
a pretty good laugh out of the whole ordeal, and the kid driving was
dead-set focused on the light waiting for it to turn. I got mine back
in 1st, and kept an eye on the left turn signal to turn red, then it
would be our turn to go. The light changes, and we're off. I got the
jump, and he never caught me.
I slowed and gave him a thumbs up before pulling back into sheetz to
top off my tank. His passenger was LOL, and the drivers face looked
pretty ashen, I don't think the experience was as good for him as it
    was for me
Now, before the '03 cobra contingent comes in and starts calling BS,
and ripping me to shreds, I'm not trying to say I doubt these cars,
they are very nice, and, in the hands of a competent driver, would be
downright deadly. But this wasn't the case last night!
The only reasons I can think of why I won.....
His 1 passenger to my none
I was running on fumes, maybe he had a full tank.....
I could slip thru the air better with the 5 coats of Zaino I just put
    on my car
He is a little slow shifting the T56
My car (in sig) is an '02 WS6, Whisper Lid and stock filthy paper
element, and Nitto NT555R drag radials. 21,239 - 21,244 miles thru
    this whole thing.

My buddy took his 03 cobra to the track tonight , same mods as his, 450 hp RWH, slowest run on street rubber 12.70's@116 when his son drove(6 speed trans), his best time and this is the first time this car has been at the track by the way .....12.11@118MPH.......not bad for a car driven 190mi round trip on street tires......and this is with a poor 60' time..........these things are awsome on the street, don't say i did'nt warn you guys.........this is the baddest new street car going right now(really)...........the ls1 and ls6's don't stand a chance against these...........

Even though these newer mustangs are fast streetcars. For the $38,000 sticker price, a hell'va fast streetcar can be built that would run 9 seconds in the 1/4 mile. That's why I would never buy a new sportscar. They're too expensive and they don't have the character that the older car's have. It seems a majority of the people have a mustang these day's along with the "fast and the furious" ricers. Heck, add $6,000 and you can have yourself a corvette.

    Agree

    A Rausch Mustang costs:
Conv was $50k Coupe was $45k no T Tops either. Same as a Vette. wowsa!
I paid less than 1/2 that for my TA with 20k miles on it.....This is what an entry level car costs these days. Drives like a dream, albeit a little stiff. It is by far the best car I have ever driven and I have owned over 70 cars.
I am not trying to own a 9 second trailer car, just a great driver. The TA is that and looks awsome also.
Still my favorite car is my GS455 but there is no way to drive it to work daily.
    Thx

I took my brother's brand spankin' new 03 Cobra for a test beating Friday night. I've got to say... What a Machine! The shifter is garbage (maybe it'll losen up?:Do No: ), but other than that it absolutely is a driver. Small as heck, but sooooo sweet!

    Cobra's

I really miss my mustang, it was fun to drive, fast, cornered great and looked good especially in Green!!!!
As a daily driver it was dependable and had a warranty. I bought it for 22,000 with 10k miles on it a year old and sold it last june for 19,500 with 30k miles on it. I would love a 03 but for the money I would rather have a GSX. I will say this it held it's own with the Camaro SS and WS6 crowd. A supercharged Cobra is Deadly and that is a FACT!!!
