Can’t find a Spectra GM34H anywhere. Been looking for several months. I have a notification set up for when/if Rock Auto gets them back in stock. Anyone have a lead on another option for a correct tank for a ‘72?

I had the same issue with 69 and 70 tanks. I set up notification on rock auto when they would be back in stock and they finally showed up online. Bought two.

The stainless tank is cool, but it’s Nearly triple the cost of a galvanized one, and for me it looks too shiny. But if you’re not looking for dead nuts correct, go for it. I installed a stainless tank in a 68 this year and it is nice.

Yeah, I’d prefer not go with stainless. If I wasn’t concerned about it being dead nuts correct I wouldn’t be in your queue Adam. ;)

Confirm that it isn't one of the tanks that was painted gray. I had a bunch of them this past year and sent them all back.

Adam is correct about the painted tanks at Auto City. Two years ago they had one listed for my car (no a Buick) and with the same part number as the Spectra tank so I assumed that was the brand. I called to confirm they had it in stock I learned that it was not a Spectra tank and it was painted gray. So specifically ask them if it is a Spectra tank (non-painted) or a different brand using the same part # and painted gray. Maybe they have the Spectra tanks now but it's worth asking.

I did ask if it’s a spectra and they said yes but I didn’t know about the painted issue. Will call back and make sure. Thanks

Called back and got a different guy. He had me on hold for a bit while he checked. He said it is a spectra and is not painted. I’m not 100% convinced but I’ll take a chance. Should have it this time next week. Hope so. I’ll be leaving for Europe for three weeks on Friday and it will bug me the whole time if I don’t know.

Seeing this thread, I ordered GM34H from Auto City Classic a week ago, so I could have one just in case. It finally arrived today, the original box looked like it had survived a flood, but it was a Spectra Premium and not painted gray. Now if Amazon would deliver the GM34B I ordered the same day when the listing said they still had 3 left. (It still says that.)
