Man, if you’d just waited instead of rushing out and buying that one you could have bought this instead! https://atlanta.craigslist.org/nat/cto/d/lilburn-1960-cadillac-sedan-deville/7099216295.html Patrick
Yep, I'd love to do those, too. But they take special wheels and paying for a really nice set up is insane money.
Mmmmmmm.....parts..... $58 shipped for the pair from Caddy Daddy. Can't beat that. Looking through parts catalogs this '60 is going to be about half the price and twice as easy to get stuff for then my '70 or the Riv was.
Great car Lucas! A local friend has a 60 also, black with a metallic green top. As for the Kindig car the paint appears to be stunning!
Detailed the taillight housings, replaced the bulbs, and installed the new lenses. Polished all the chrome surrounds. Found a couple small cracks on the reverse lenses I didn't notice before so I'll be replacing those too. Took the car on its first road trip over 100 miles today. Car runs and drives absolutely fantastic, never missed a beat, and got 13.4 mpg with mixed driving. Made a real connection to it today which was missing.
Here are the tires my Mom wants me to order for her 92 RoadMaster. Bet they would look great with most any wheel choice for a 60. VERY happy for you Lucas, as my Dad would say if he was still around when he saw my 60 225 (when “225” meant 225” on the Electra : ) “Now THAT’S a car!!!” Congrats on a stunning rolling art on hubcaps....Er...ummm.... WHEELS! (Wonder if they’d fit a 60 Buick? Hmmm lol). Food for thought on tires: And yes they make 22’s also ; ) https://www.voguetyre.com/about-us
Very sweet Caddy Lucas. Glad You pulled the trigger and bought it. You only go around once and, as you said, you always wanted one. I know how hard it was to let the Riv go. We sold a few as well to make room for other cars we wanted. Seldom easy. Colors work great on the '60. Crazy, but I wonder what the wheel/tire combo from the white Caddy would look like on the '60?
Hahaha....you bastards! Seriously, I stopped by my former place of work a few towns over to see my friends on the road trip, and I had to explain about them being wheels again and not just hubcaps. You and I think alike, Jerry. Weather isn't going to cooperate until next week but a quick swap is in my plans. I'm 95% sure that those are the same wheels I'm going to run, just with smaller (but still big) white walls. I think these cars look awesome on 20s or 22s, but it just drives so nice with the 15s, and the cost is about 1/4 of the big rims I'd want. Thanks for the compliments and following along guys. Sorry it's kind of a boring thread with no real work so far. I'll start ordering some fun stuff here in the next couple weeks it sounds like Edit: for those that don't know, here's my '70 and the wheels I'll most likely be running. These are 3" white walls, I'll be going 1.5-2" on the '60
I miss having a 'large cruiser'. But, I like large cruisers, for our own use, with four doors. I may, after getting a few projects completed, look for another 4dr, or wagon.
Yessir, if I knew I'd be keeping them both someday, I would've gotten a Sedan Deville for the '70. The rooflines on them are really cool with the thin pillars front and rear. The '60 had to be a Coupe .
Got the stereo install done, for now (my stereos usually go from simple to extreme in a year). Ended up having to put the deck in the jockey box instead of under the seat because they said it was supposed to come with a remote , which is in fact a free app for your phone to have remote functions for your stereo. Lukie don't do apps. Lukie wants nothing to do with grabbing his cell phone, opening it up, and opening an app just to turn his volume down while in traffic or change the station behind the wheel of a giant car with drum brakes and no seat belts. So it's in the box where I can reach it. Put the 6x9s back under the package tray in the stock spots, and left the stock radio installed and functioning with the factory mono speakers in their places. Put a hidden antenna on the firewall where you can't see it so the stock am still picks up stations through the factory antenna. Came out good, totally hidden and sounds decent enough for now. We'll see if I feel the need to cut holes in the door panels and put some sparkomatics in there.......
