Now it comes apart for inspection.....head gasket, cracked head or block

Damn Steve, that can't be good nor a quick/easy fix. Pressurize the cooling system & get in there w/a camera? Hopefully "just" a head gasket & nothing cracked.

It's going to be a monster once you get all the bugs/growing pains sorted out.

Just got off the phone with JW and he feels its a crack in the head around the #5 exhaust. Gonna pull the valve covers, remove the rocker bar and the headers then pressurize the cooling system and see where the water comes out. Not likely its a intake manifold leak as # 5 is not even close to the water port in and out of the head. Block is O ringed with copper head gaskets so again probably not gonna be the issue. Did pull the oil filter and no water in there. Just some non magnetic sparkly stuff.

It's just life in the fast lane boys.. heavily ported STG 2/3 heads are prone to exhaust side cracking.. they run with high temps, and the thin alum sometimes just won't hold up. Especially on the earlier heads, that predated the core box update that allowed the extra head bolt hole.. Steve's heads are earlier versions, and I have seen this before.

Damn, that sucks Briz. Was looking forward to seeing it run this year. Hopefully, you can get it fixed and still make it.

But, if you can't bring the Skyhawk, there's always BSA with a different car. You had a blast the last couple years in that class.

Sorry to hear the bad news but if you can’t get the Skyhawk running by the Nats bring your Wildcat and run BSA with us this year.

If the Hawk cant make the trip I'll bring the Riv. She hasnt been in a couple years and I'd like to see what it will do with the ported TA sleeper heads. Im guessing mid 13's

In car vid. Its working better but still a few things to work out. This launch was with the grid pulling 4* timing at the hit.

Got the car working pretty good. Hitting the tires hard on the launch. 1.19 60' Now if I could just cut a decent light most of the time I'd be in the winners circle 439921781_10168930942955654_7680048408050215325_n.jpg

Seat time and more seat time Briz. Trust me, once you get used to that car you two will be so hard to beat. You will learn to trust that car.
Big difference from what you were running before and i dont just mean ET wise.
Now, just go out and have fun with it!!!

Nice launch, for the oil pans sake I hope it rides that out and sets down smoothly.......I doubt there is the clearance to soak that slam up the other wise

The landing was pretty smooth and I'll tell ya, I knew the front came up a little but had no idea it was that high until I saw the pic. My bars are like 3 " off the deck when Im staged. Who knows how high that joker would ride without them.

Know what your saying Denny. Small tire/ big tire, 2x's the HP and 1500 lbs lighter. Big step up from the Regal SGMP1 3-3 - Copy.jpg

Congratulations on getting it dialed in. That was quick getting the engine back together. Looking forward to seeing it run (BG?).

    Curious:
    1. Do you need a crew (at least someone) to help @ the track w/a car like that?
    2. Is there more to he had in suspension tuning &/or do you make tune it based on conditions?
    3. What's the E.T. expectation once you get used to it?
