Just bought one Steve and Cliff, https://www.ecstuning.com/b-k-and-p...lter-w-machine-finished-end-caps/s16~k-and-p/
I just bought two of them. When I went to checkout with PayPal, they offered $20 off if I applied for a PayPal Credit account. So, extra savings! Two for $238.62.
There are plenty of choices already for the $1.99 oil filter because there is plenty of demand, with cheapskates abound. With the PGI/Napa "gold" filters, it really hit me when my son was servicing a truck that was heading on a 1,000 mile trip the next day and he showed me the PGI filter that snuck on my shelf. That was the final straw. I like to sleep at night. Sonsio won't cover a leaky oil filter, or a potential lost "A" customer. And I told our Napa rep that Napa will make more money from me by loosing the majority of my oil filter sales, because if I loose 1 engine from a crappy filter from them that we are done with Napa. Ironically, it was an on-going supply chain issue from Napa that uncovered a lot oil filter issues, with another being pricing. The most popular Toyota application was on back order. Checking options revealed that the OEM Toyota filter for that application was $2/filter LESS than the Napa Gold WIX/M&H and now PGI. WTF? I have purchased 1,000's of these over 2 decades as being a shop owner. And it wasn't a "lately" thing, we checked back a long way. At that point it was on, pricing and now quality issues, and a total re-think of the lowly oil filter was a major priority.
I’ve yet to receive shipping confirmation and as of today my PayPal account is still pending. States it will be shipped March 6. Anyone else receive shipping confirmation?
I am a dealer for K&P, but cannot come even close to matching those prices. Buy them from ECStuning until they don't offer them at that low price!!! Like a said, it's most likely a mistake that they'll catch sooner or later.
I just checked. Mine says it will ship March 4, tomorrow. PayPal shows it as a charge, no longer pending.
China will at some point start cleaning up it's environment, just as we did in the '60s. With a population approaching 2 billion, it will have no choice.
I have long felt that there is a greater area of natural conflict between China and Russia then there is between China and the United States. Getting back to something close to the original post, I just ordered three blades for my chainsaw. The Oregon blades that I bought are made in Canada. Listed right below the Oregon chains were chains with an Asian-sounding name, and the ad was obviously written in Chinglish. The three-pack was 20 cents less then the Oregons. Amazon said that they had sold 800 sets of the Chinese blades. I simply cannot fathom buying Chinese when for only 20 cents more you could get quality (North) American parts. I'll bet these are the same people who would bitch when they were laid off due to cheap Chinese competition. Arragh!
John, do you remember the old credit card machines at the gas stations. You filled up your car, the gas station attendant would bring out the card machine, put your gas credit in the machine and it would imprint a copy of your credit card and give you back a carbon copy and your credit. These credit card machines were also used at stores like Sears & Robuck. I worked for a company called Farrington Business Machines. The company was doing good until a Japanese company came along and copied our machine. We made the structure of the machine out of casted aluminum and did all the machining and die stamping in-house. After seeing the Japanese model, we took it apart and measured every part in their credit card machine. Everything was measured exactly as ours. We could swap parts between, the machines and they still worked. The big difference, they made the housing structure using injection molding process. Faster and cheaper production process. Reduced the in-house machining and die stamping process. The Japanese credit card machine was much cheaper than what we could produce and in a couple of years our company went Bankrupt. All this happened in 1974 and I had to find another job. I loved working for Farrington as a Tool & Die Maker, hated to lose this job. Unfortunately, this happens all the time. The difference now is, we farm-out our manufacturing to foreign countries so we can compete in a World market. Ever wonder how many foreign Auto plants are in America? One day, there will NOT be any American Auto companies left. VET (Navy) list of foreign manufacturers with plants in the U.S. and the vehicles they produce. Just got an e-mail today (Sunday), that my order was packaged and shipped. They gave me a tracking number. I am sure it will actually get picked up by UPS tomorrow.
The other side of the coin: Toyota's plant in San Antonio has 3,800+ employees with an additional 5,600 people with the on-site suppliers (seat and interior manufactures, steel and aluminum stampings, glass assemblies)...
Bingo! Just got my notification of UPS tracking number at 4:37PM CST. Says it will be here Thursday. However, it is UPS SurePost, which is the bastichized UPS/USPS nonsense where USPS does the actual delivery.
I fully get that these foreign auto plants hire a lot of Americans and contribute a lot of jobs and business to the on-site suppliers. But the profits go overseas, doesn't stay in the America. I fear (I'm not the only one) America will not have any major manufacturing unless we change the way me do business and pay down the National Debt. I do NOT want to live in an American that is owned by a foreign Government. Vet
I do remember the credit card machines. The customer got the tissue-thin copy, we kept the punchcard portion. As they were not negotiable by anyone but the oil company, we would total them up and bundle them, then leave them for the driver who was going to drop our gasoline. (along with a blank check made out to the oil company). One thing the oil companies in that era would never do would be to drop a load of gas without payment on the spot. BTW: Didja notice that almost all of the Foreign Manufacturers have their factories in the South? Unions are about as popular as Crab Lice in the South, so the wages are lower then the union wages negotiated by the American manufacturers in the Northern states.
