Ethan- good luck!!! Looking forward to seeing it at BG! Hope mine is one of those that’s heading to paint on Friday…?
Throw some spare parts in the trunk for the trip! Can't wait to see this one. Oh.... gotta get mine back together now, too...
Well I did something similiar to my Apollo. I started in about the same shape and had a month.. made it to the track and failed tech due to a crack in the windshield.. So, check your windshield for eff's sake.
Thats August 26th to September 20th.. I already had 3.73s with a posi installed.. had to do just about everything else. It's doable, the hell with sleep and looks!
I'm not as brave now but back in the days when I had no trailer and no tow vehicle we would caravan with CB radios. Always some excitement.... The one guy that had a trailer had one of his trailer tires pass him due to wheel bearing letting go. Flatwoods, West Virginia. We had to swap all the guts out of a turbo 350 into another case in BG after crossmember broke thru the traps....raced it next day.....of course had to drive it home and change fuel pump on side of road. I got bad gas (must have been regular not premium) in the mountains in my GS that I drove to BG and ran 10.90s...had to turn the distributor back (no timing light) so I could drive it with no death rattle until I could get some real premium. Drove to BG with 2.56 gears and changed center section out to 3.90 in the Holiday Inn parking lot to race. Only a 2 beer job.... I could go on......those were the days.... I admire you Ethan for going for it.....
Ethan, you're my hero! I feel bad leaving my car home last year and I had a trailer to put it on. Now I have to get the car here and wrap up the loose ends. Thanks for the kick in the a%&. Look forward to meeting you when down there.
Lookin' good so far. Do you have a before picture to share? I know if you get a good breakfast in each day, you can do it! Rover looks eager to help!
I like the plan! I have a theory that a part that you have the spare of with you will never fail. So I always throw spare parts in the trunk, like water pump, plug wires, distributor…etc. Problem is the more I walk around the garage before the trip I keep seeing more items like coil, pushrods and think gosh if I don’t grab it now that will be the part I need on the side of the road. One time I actually was looking at a crankshaft and laughed at myself. You gotta stop Rob.
I am not a betting man......but if you have that thing in Bowing Green and making a pass...i will give you a crisp just printed Benjamin !! Peace WildBill
