We call it "that Buick smell". Both of our 67's have that smell. The unrestored one is more previlant, while the one with all new interior has a very faint smell of old Buick. Was setting in the barber shop a few days ago waiting for my turn and there was a cute spanish girl with 2 little kids a few chairs down. They smelled like ass. First I thought it was the boy waiting for his turn. He got into the chair and the stank was still there. Then the little girl went over to the play area. Nope. Boy got done with his cut, they all got up and out the door. Stank went with her.
I had my front and rear bench recovered and they were in great shape, just nasty covers. Also all the door / sail panels and headliner are original and they still emit that beautiful aroma...
My convertible has the same aroma as the first convertible I bought as a 15-year old. It’s unmistakable, can’t be duplicated, and absolutely comforting. Just like my perfect woman.
Bringing the dank stank thread back up. Just popped the door open and hopped in the ole hot rod and the smack in the face of the old stank reminded me of this thread.
Friend of mine swears by this Ozone generator. Says it'll remove smokers smell from interiors. He says 16 to 18 hours of treatment and you'll have the new car smell back. I kindof doubt it.... CLEANING CARS How to Do an Ozone Shock Treatment on a vehicle. Author Info Last Updated: July 17, 2020 Approved Regular methods of cleaning and deodorizing a vehicle are not always enough. An ozone shock treatment will send pure ozone (O3) deep into every crevice, destroying these odorous compounds that could not be washed away. Car rental companies use these generators on a regular basis to remove smoke and pet odors.
Sources of the Stank. Fiberglass behind kick panel blowing mouse tainted fiberglass in your face through the vents. Also the inevitable most nest in the heater box made with back seat stuffing.
