We will not likely have the Twin Turbo Skylark that far away from home although if I was single I would do it! Most likely we will be in the wifes SUV so yeah a ride in the Cat would be great!

I just need to fix an oil leak and then bolt on a turbo kit to this 75 Regal that I have in my barn... That would be a good road trip car! It would even be easy to have baby seats in the back, although no kids yet LOL! Not sure if Leanne would go for that but hey. 56,000 miles, no dents, no rust, one owner car just begging for turbochargers!

Good luck on the trip with the car, and keep us posted!:TU:

black vert 008.JPG I just read through this thread again and what I have to say is painful:ball: Necessity dictates that the Cat has to go. (this is not a for sale post) I will post it in the for sale section later. I need to know what a fair price would be for My cat and I think the Guys that know are on the bench. I need to get 20k together and as a small business the banks will not give me the time let alone money. I want to go off the grid and solar is not cheap. Don't get Me wrong the Motel has been great and pays for itself and provides for My Family but this is a big expense. I plan on buying another Buick in the near future. All I need is an honest opinion as a starting price and please be gentle on Me:grin:

66electrafied Just tossing in my nickel's worth

Okay...not having seen the car, but knowing that it has had some work done to it and it's roadworthy...then there's the lovely Canadian market to consider...it's not a Chevelle or a Mopar...and the roof comes off...It should be valued at about $22,000 but realistically it'll sell for between $10,000 and $12,000. The biggest problem is finding that one guy in all of Ontario that likes that car, or can appreciate a fine Buick, and has money. Unfortunately buying a big Buick is a bit like a bad marriage, easy to get into, but hard and expensive to get out of. If you don't owe anything on it, take your time and hold out for the best dollar you can, but it could take a long time to sell it. Good luck...

Don't you just love banks in this country; they'll nickel-and-dime you to death and happily steal every penny they can from you, but they won't part with a red cent unless you're gainfully employed by a large company and drawing a salary and paying taxes. If you're self-employed they want nothing to do with you, even if you prove to them that it's a known money-maker. You may want to consider a different form of incorporation, it might help out in the long run.

I imagine things are different in Ontario, but here in Alberta it doesn't pay to go off the grid, simply because all the extra line charges, carrying fees, convenience fees, taxes and extra charges don't make it worth it. Privatization has turned out to be the biggest cluster-**** imaginable. The utilities don't pay much for any excess generated and returned to the grid either. The actual cost of the electricity here is ridiculously cheap, and yet the power bills here are some of the highest in North America.

I truly hope you can work things out without having to sell the car; for what little it's worth, I wish you the best of luck...

    Thanks for the input Marc:TU:
I have no intention of feeding into the grid I am just sick of paying $3000 a month in the winter.I have a quote to go off the grid for $20.000 and that would pay for itself in 2 years. I am sure the powers that be will have a new tax to stick Me with but I haven't found one Yet. The cat still needs a top carpet and a hanger bearing. It is still a clean drivable car. I would like to see $7.000 with all the extra parts.

I don't know how I missed this thread. I just read through the whole thing and have to say that I'm sorry to hear you are selling that car. You put a lot of work into it. If I had $7K extra, I'd fly up and buy it to have a 2nd Wildcat convertible.
Good luck with the sale. I hope to get mine finished someday.

Mark, sorry to see you need to sell your 'Cat in order to move ahead with those plans. Since the Canadian major banks are such wonderful people to deal with, I've been with a credit union for almost 40 years now. Isn't there one in Blind River that you could speak with? Credit Unions typically listen to their customers with interest.

What about all those majestic trees? How many need to go for the solar conversion?

If the 'Cat goes, I won't be able to find your place anymore.:bla:

The cat may have to go but I will have another Buick.I have one in mind but it is from the 70s and it 4x4:Brow: I am with the Northern credit union but they want Me to be running for 3 years then they will help out. The trees are all safe:TU: The panels will be on the flat roof at the back of the motel.

It seems so. Pretty much jumped through all the hoops. Once the funds are in My buddys hands I think its a done deal. Should be in his possession by the end of the weekend.
