Real deal, looks awesome, curious why there's no wheel well moldings? Maybe an option in 71? http://www.ebay.com/itm/1971-Buick-...d8551b83:g:8fsAAOSw44BYhnTc&item=252737559427
I met a guy at a VT car show a couple of years ago that was restoring a 71 GSX. He asked me a bunch of questions about my 72 GS. One of the questions he asked was about the hood tach and said his did not have one. This car has VT plates and no tach. I wonder if it is the same car?
Restored in VT, contact number is a Vermont area code, this maybe is the Bill Bayliss car.... This first post has the MOST INFORMATION ON THIS CAR.... http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.p...tez-Gold-Reduced-again!&highlight=cortez+gold http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?216249-1971-GSX-4-speed-29-900!&highlight=GSX+vermont http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?170924-1971-Cortez-Gold-GSX&highlight=bayliss
Late build car with low fisher body number. That's not a confirmation, but a major clue as to whether real- appears so. Hood tach and front spoiler were options in '71.
Same trim tag in all of the links as the eBay car... = same car.. I know there are some members that love to buy GSX's.. I posted the links specifically for them to make their own decisions based on the discussions therein..
Quick VIN Search found one more thread on the car, from 2002, back when it was believed to be a GSX 350 4 speed. http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?10084-Help-decoding-body-tag-please&highlight=434371h185307
The guy's first name that I spoke to at the car show was Pete. He was good friends with Bill Bayliss and lived close by to Bill in Vermont. He was a chevy guy but knew he could make some money on a GSX. We exchanged phone numbers but I never heard from him again.
when it was previewed with hemmings http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.p...-on-hemmings&p=2632051&highlight=#post2632051
Bid was most likely falsely pushed up... That car must have been really rusty or the rear axle has been changed, it has some serious rust pitting ...
There was a pic. of the trans. on FB. As awful as the original stamps were, IMO it looked like a really bad re-stamp. I should have saved it, but I'm sure it's still on there somewhere.
another old thread: http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?237101-1971-4-speed-gsx Brett- I just know him as Bill Bayliss in Vermont who ran/ owned Bayberry Farms Restoration (??? I don't recall his shop's name)...ou:
