Just searching some old stuff and came accross this thread. I knew a couple of the Jackson boys(Tracy and Tommy) and have a couple pictures of the 71 GS from the now closed Jax raceway 1/8th mile track. I was there the day the rear engine dragster went off the end of the track and bent the chassis so bad the front tires no longer touched the ground. That is probably why this post said he had the engine from it in the shed. Unfortanately I heard a coulple years ago that Melvin had passed although I have no way to confirm it. I do know that around 1999 or 2000 Tommy was also very ill and I also heard he had passed. I lost all contact when the Buick dealership he worked at closed for good.
I was getting ready to respond to your first question of the decal and saw this. Stan Brown is still building engines but on a much smaller scale these days. He is usually just referred to as Stan around here. Again I know this is an old thread. Just enjoying reading it. Probably again as my memory is not what it used to be.
A lot of Buicks in this link: http://davekommel.photoshelter.com/gallery/Stock/G0000jnzwoAIhk7c/C0000zqB2ThLYaBk
Paul, What a terrific addition...I don't think the blue '72 GS Stage 1 "Free Spirit" has been seen at all in this thread. It's shown in images 113, 242, & 425. Thank you for your contribution! :kodak:
Found it on Facebook. I've had to go back to it three times to find all the Buicks. I think I have them all now. I saved all of them in case anything happens.
Nice work Guy! Where have I seen High Pertension? Was it in the old K-B catalogs? Love the stance and the aluminum slots...
