I would like to change my steering box to this box listed on Rockauto. Only like $270 shipped. Anyone have any experience with or opinions of these steering boxes. Thanks for your input.
I bought a steering box from them, had a bad sector shaft out of the box, it would turn 2.5 turns one way and only 2. The other way, spoke with them it was useless. I bought a new Delphi box online for 425.00 well with the extra few dollars.
Never heard ofnthem nor a 972.. get eitjer a Lee 600 or 800 box ATS is another great vender DSE would be 3rd choice Scandc.com sells the LEE boxes also matching pump is great idea
Sorry for hijacking the thread, I put in a rebuilt Jeep GrCherokee steering box, feels nice with 3 turns lock-to-lock. What would I benefit on getting a 'box from Lee or other similar places?
cheerokee box is already a fast ratio 12.7:1 vs stock 16:1 Just metric Fittings right? But youd be a better feel..more rack n pinion like.. since youre is just rebuilt i truthfully wouldnt worry and just run it If you go to a 600 box Next time around youll gain a lil space and drop weight
Yes, and the t-bar is somewhat bigger than it was back in 1969. A more rack n pinion like feel is highly desired, swapping in a real rack in Sweden requires a thick certification progress. I will see what happens after my energy suspension bushes goes in, all is 45 yr old stock bushes now.
If you shorten the spindle a inch and a half (Where the Tie Rod Bolts up) it will quicken the steering also. A chop saw and good 220 mig welder will get the job done. We did this on our stockcars and never had a failure.
