I'd imagine it would be very combo dependent, as horsepower & torque, gearing, stall speed, and converter efficiency would all have an impact. It's interesting to see how different combos respond.
Unless you start making jetting and timing changes (one at a time) and watch the MPH, you may be at the point where you've reached what the combination has to offer. Pretty darn good, IMO! Are you going to ESTA on October 26th for the last test and tune? I have a friend who works there and he said the corvette transmission/rear diff oil down took a lot longer to clean up because it had synthetic trans fluid. Not sure I'm buying that, but that's their story.
I have been to ESTA a few times and they never seemed to be in much of a hurry to clean up the track after oil downs or rain. You guys only get a handful of good days to race up there, you would think they would be on it like white on rice. One time I was there, I had to organize the squeegee party to get rid of that lake that develops from rain behind the burn out box. I got really spoiled in Phoenix. A few years ago we had 50 weeks of racing at two tracks. Now, not so much. GSGTX, do you have a link to pics of your car? Also, for you Central NYs, where do you call home? I grew up in the Utica area.
Bob, like to go one last time, maybe lean it one jet size but should be colder then so maybe just leave it.. makes sense about the synthetic fluid. Hi Dave, am from auburn. 25 miles east of syracuse
So Joe - you're only maybe 100 miles from LVD? I'm headed back there for another track rental day on the 10th if your interested...good excuse to blow off a Friday from work. Tommy will be there too.
Dave, I'm from Baldwinsville, about 10 miles northwest of Syracuse. ESTA is close (30-40 minutes away depending on traffic). They don't put a lot of $$$ into the track or grounds - heck the spectactor lane scoreboard has been out all season. LV is about 3 hours away from either Auburn or Baldwinsville. Empire is closer. ESTA is what it is I guess.
That would be pretty cool. the rental fee is 70 bucks, but I can guarantee you'll get as many runs in as you can stand - I did 25 last week. That's a whole lotta test 'n tune. Bring your extra jets and rods!
