Jason, I often do the same. Mostly it's a feeling of nostalgia on my part.

I grew up in Flushing, MI and spent a lot of time in Flint, MI. One of my early jobs in Flint was washing/cleaning limousines and hearses for a company there when I was 16. That would have been '82-'83. The area I worked was great then; I made great friends with people who casually stopped by to say "Hey!", even when I had the garage doors open after dark. A few odd folks stopped in, but never anything to worry about. That neighborhood is a lot different now.

Here's a look from the outside for those interested in Flint: http://www.flintexpats.com/ The owner of the site is keen to spot Buicks when he can, wherever they may be.

If that's not it, where's the Buick in that picture?

That's not true at all, it's only what they claim.

  8. Did a Google Streetview for the address on my original owners Protect-o-Plate and it appears there's still an A body parked there. But it's a 72 Cutlass.

...and another 10. What a great slice of Americana! There's something special (no pun intended) about seeing the cars being used in the era where they were common place. They sort of take on a little more life. Now-a-days, we view them sitting quietly in storage, on display at a show, or taking on the quarter mile. We don't view them in everyday situations like they're depicted here. I think my favorite of the bunch is either the couple in front of the silver Wildcat or the young lady on the trunk of her fathers Wildcat. The trolley picture has special meaning for me as my Grandfather worked for PAT in Pittsburgh on those very same units.

thanks for uploading, Brian. I can also watch hours of youtube videos from 6-ties and 7-ties, still prefer photos for the same reason you described.

I'm digging that second photo, since it also shows cabover pulling an old style "A" Train which appears to be getting towed up the snowy hill by that Ford 4X4. :TU:

I like old photos with cinema billboards.
When I see one in old photos, I always check IMDB to find out more about the film.

Bad Penny premiered in 1978, and it was filmed in New York.
I found a torrent download, so I'm going to watch it this evening :TU:

Maybe the flick isn't much of a story, but I will enjoy watching all the time period correct cars in the streets

Bloody Mama is a film from 1970:

That was a real shame with that 57. Probably the end of that car, but they don't make light posts like that any more.
