1971 Skylark / GS Trailer Hitch $150 shipped USA This is a correct 1971 BUICK Skylark / GS bumper mount trailer hitch in great condition, $150 shipped in the US or trade for a correct 1970.
how would u mount that. it would have to attach directly to the bottom of each frame rail for the brace closes to the ball, Where would the front brace attach? the tank is in the road.
Im not cetain, but The hitch appears to mount to bumper only. I matched it up when I had the 71, should have looked closer at it and never installed it. Any input? The hitch tounge has the name REESE # 71726. The measurements between the mounting holes are 16" between the lower arms (front) and and 19-1/2" between the upper arms (rear). The hitch states MAX tongue 200lbs MAX Hitch 2000 lbs
I have a 71 or 72 NOS Buick GS hitch here that came with my car. It doesn't mount anything like that, you don't have to drill any holes in the trunk floor or anywhere. It's like the ones Cole was selling before, the bar goes from frame rail to frame rail in holes that are already there. The other part mounts where the gas door bolts are. It's possible that's a 71 Sport wagon hitch. I assume like all wagons the tank would be over the wheelwell, so that hitch would bolt right up.
Perhaps Sport wagon...holes don't look to match though. I dont think there would be any holes to drill. I dont think it mounts to the trunk floor either. It mounts to the bumper using the two tabs at the bottom and matches existing holes in the face either side of the license plate. Hers a pic sent to me from a member of what appears to be a similar hitch. Can someone post the measurements of the holes I describe above from a 71 Sky/ GS rear bumper please?
For comparison; can someone post the measurements of the holes I describe above from a 71 Sky/ GS rear bumper please?
I know you've sold this hitch but my 1970'gs has a hitch on it. Mounted to frame . I'll posh a picture tomorrow.
It's a valley hitch. it's rated at 3500 lbs. goes threw the trunk pan. I'm not sure of the value and I'm not sure I want to part with it yet. I'll post pics when I down size them.
WAHHHHT? :eek2: I cant ever remember seeing any hitch bolt THRU a trunk pan?? Makes no sense. Trunk pan is weak. Cant wait to see pix of that. :Brow: Wheelz, Tampa Bay
