Also some anti-seize compounds have glass in them. If that got in your cylinder, look out!

Yup, know all about that, always use NGK, FR-5. I'll change them before I go to Cecil.

I'd change them at the track and just before your run.

    When you going?

September 20th. Not changing plugs when the cylinder is hot. I'm driving down that morning. I don't need to be that anal. The plugs will be fresh enough. Seen to many people have problems with plug threads. It's not happening to me.

I thought you'd let it cool first.

It's just not that important to me. As long as I pick up trap speed, I'll be happy. My car is a street car. It doesn't have a roll bar. The SP converter, and GV, and 2 1/2" exhaust soak up some power. If I can hook it, and it runs low 11s at around 118-120, I'll be happy with that. They may object to my lack of a bar anyway.

Dang. I didnt know antisieze was so bad, been using on aluminum heads for years! Maybe thats why my cars are so slow!:Do No:

But hey, Ive never stripped a plug tho, so thats good.

I just got my Q-jet from Jim last week. I'll be driving down with it, making some passes with it, and then swapping on the 1000. Very easy for me to do, 10-20 minutes max.

My fuel pump is working great, 8-9 psi consistently. We will see what that is worth. I installed billet rear lower control arms, and I have pulled out the bump stops in the front, and the front sway bar. Changed my spark plugs today. Tomorrow, I may try to adjust the Koni shocks at all 4 corners. Not really clear on how to do that, but I'll give it a shot. Got brand new P275/60R-15 MT ET Street Drag Radials. Hope to see an improvement from last year, but you never know what will happen at the track. We will see.

What are the setting options Larry?

I was told you can adjust Koni shocks. Not sure of the options, I guess you can make them looser or firmer, but I am unsure how to do that. From what I can see online, the adjustment is made with the shock fully compressed, clockwise for firmer, CCW for looser.

It sounds link the comp shocks. I would set them on firm. If you can stick something on the shaft of the rear shocks that you can set up against the shock body that is pretty firm on the shaft but can still slide as the shock compresses on the launch so you can make sure its not bottoming out and rebounding. 90/10 in the front. Good luck buddy!

So firm in the back, loose in the front?

Yes that is correct, I am pretty sure it will like it there. You don't want it to be loose in the back because it will bottom out and bounce back and unload the rear tires. Do you know what the pinion angle is?

I was there every Friday and Sat night in the mid 80's. Only Buick (besides mine) was a guy named Mike, aka, "Lurch" who drove a black 72 Skylark with a red GSX stripe. So named because he looked like Lurch from the Adams Family:pp

Still have a chip on my door from some dimwit at Channel who opened his door into my car.

Was Tommy's Corvette the one in bare fiberglass?

You weren't the only Buick on 231 !
What about the Voss brothers and Roy Rauch ?
I even ventured out with Roy at times.

Sorry to say the car ran just about the same as last year. My best time was a 11.67@115. Best 60' was 1.65. Car felt great to me, but what do I know. This time, the car hooked every time, it didn't spin that I could tell. Whether that was due to the billet rear lower control arms, no front sway bar, or new MT's, I don't know, but it hooked and went. The only thing I can think of is the SP converter is slowing me down compared to a good fixed pitch 9.5". I scaled the car, and it weighed 4010 with me in it. I'll post more when I get home tomorrow.
