Lack of imagination on my part. I joined V8Buick about 4 years ago when I was deciding on whether or not to buy a '64 Skylark convertible. I had to come up with a screen name on the fly and simply used my first name and last initial. Even my 10 yr. old daughter (now 14) thought it was lame.
Well, name is Shawn. I am a fan of the XS650 motorcycles. Wish I still had one. Used as login for darn near everything. Pretty much explains it.
Bulldog was a nickname I gained in highschool, well because I am short and broad shouldered. Well that and it all came down to this one play in a football game. Was on special teams doing kickoff return. Went back to cover the receiver, pivoted to head back up field , took a few steps forward and laid this guy out flat on his back. I'm 5'6" on a good day and this guy was noticeably taller than me. I just remember hearing from our sideline, "oooooooo". Then our offensive line coach, "Look at that little Bulldog jump up and bite his @$$!" Hahaha, it pretty much stuck after that. Then of course the rest comes from my obsession, '66 GS's.
Used to drive for a wrecker service when I was young. When towing something way over capacity because you brought the wrong truck, you had to drop down on the roll. Then one of my youth cars was a 55 Pontiac with a 3 on the tree. It also had a 347 out of a wrecked 57. Surprised a lot of 4 speeds when I could drop into 1st at 10-15 MPH. Doubleclutch
KS_Skyhawk, I was looking for a project. My wife and I had a 1976 Skyhawk in about 1978. Every time I opened the hood, I wanted to stuff something bigger into that waiting space. Well....2002 or so and a couple kids passed through our house. I began to have the time and the funds to build another car. It had been 30+ years! Lots of overhauls, brake jobs, a few transmissions, and the regular stuff were handled along the way. I'd always been a Buick guy since I dropped a 322 nailhead with a factory 3 speed into my 52 Chevy fastback back in the 60s while in high school. But, I digress! So, I found this 1976 Skyhawk and went to work. In it now is a 350 SBB .030 over, 10.2-1 balanced, bowl ported, polished combustion chambers and piston tops, TA intake, 750cfm (POS) Edelbrock AFB, and a Poston 114 cam. Behind it is a beefed 200R4 and a 2.93 posi. Got the car painted black , installed S10 calipers and discs, and I was off! I am from Kansas and it's a Skyhawk. Voila! KS_Skyhawk Now I'm in the latter stages of a frame-off 1967 Skylark project. It's fitted with an injected LT1 from a 1996 Trans AM and 4L60E. Also, it's equipped with leather-suede seats out of a 2005 Bonneville. A custom built console, six way electrics, and lumbar support are there for my old back and the complete comfort my better half deserves! I've had nailhead V6s and V8s, a Turbo V6, a supercharged 3800 and now my Skyhawk. The latter took three parts cars and 4 years to build. KS_Skyhawk
My first car (bought in 79) is a 69 Stage 1 so with all the Stage 1 handles this one fit. Still have it but it needs restored. Brian
Cool! ---------- Post added at 09:02 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:01 PM ---------- How fast is it?
Right now, none is slower. But I got dibs on the handle for when she runs again (aiming for low-mid 11s).
shadewolf is my old cb handle when I helped my uncle on the farm with the trucks. I never talked much back then and ran with a group of kids causing trouble and having fun. I have used it ever since then. Nothing to do with buicks, everything to do with the driver.
