http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1968...e=STRK:MEWAX:IT&forcev4exp=true#ht_477wt_1186 Not mine. If I didn't already have a '68 GS 400 convertible I would look into it.
Nice and is unusual, wonder when did GSs get 4 speeds instead of 3 speeds? Or was a 4 speed an option? Wouldn't mind having it either, might get a little pricey!
3 speed floor shift was standard for GS 400, 4 speed was optional . Seems odd to have a consolette/ console though with a 3speed . 3.42 was standard axle with 3:64 optional . I like that Charcoal Metallic ! DL
I don't have my book handy, but wasn't 2.93 standard in a 68 GS400? I think you are referring to stage 1's coming standard with the abovementioned gearing?
Things like that make you go HMMMMM about an otherwise nice looking car. That is an unusual color, not sure if I like it or not, kinda blah on the stepchild body.Looks good on Rivieras though.:bglasses:
2.93 standard for Auto . No stg cars in '68 . Hard to read but consolette emblem does look like 3 speed . DL
Although the std. gear ratios were 2.93 for '68 GS 400s, I believe there was a performance axle option which could have been ordered.
Does anyone know why they moved away from the Star Wars air cleaner? I mean, wasn't that the coolest air cleaner ever? LOL! Dave
Yes - It's mine, apparently I am "Coil Challenged" however its not laying there, it is secured. I love this car but moving and likley will not have the room for a while thus the listing. Again not perfect but just a real nice fun car that is more original and different than most. If any V8ers are interested I would be happy to discuss the details. If it does not sell I will find room for it, certainly not a must sell situation. Thank you for the nice comments. Ed
I grew up in Quincy and my Dad bought several Buicks from Geise's, why didn't he buy this one!!! Ed, do you happen to know the original owner's name? I love the car.
Somebody likes it, the bidding is as I predicted. pricey by my standards anyway. I guess the unique coil mounting hasn't hurt it too much.
Mark, you buy this one, I'll buy the silver mist 67 nearby, and we'll meet for lunch when we pick them up! I'll buy!
In 1968,69 and 1970 all Big Block Buick GS manual trans cars including base no cost standard 3 speed manual on the floor received a 3.42 open axle standard. All auto trans cars received 2.93 open axle. You had to order a posi, only Stage 1 cars received posi as part of Stage 1 driveline option.
