As a Riviera owner myself....I am thinking a lot must have happened with this car in over 40 years and just only 8,200 original miles. Looks more like 108,200 miles to me...engine compartment etc. The odometer does not show 100% straight line up of numbers in a row as well. You had the same thoughts I had about his car. Just a gut feeling it isn't what it claims to be. And that high gloss engine compartment is really a turn off! The photos look to have been run through Photoshop.
Obviously some items under the hood are not original. Since this was the first year for the electric fuel pump Rivs, tell me if the fuel line to the carb under the hood is correct.
The windshield washer reservoir hose is disconnected. That's $2k off the price right there. Definitely looks restored, block has a fresh coat of paint and that exhaust system has definitely been replaced. Those tailpipes are supposed to tuck under the corners of the rear bumper and not be visible.

That is the correct routing, but from what I can view on my phone, the hard line doesn't look to be the original. You beat me to it.
Yes...wonder what happened to the super quality GM mufflers...I still have one under the car with many more miles...
The rear resonators rot out rountinely on these cars. They dont get hot enough with short distance trips and collect water. I remember mine rotting away after a year or two as I would only drive it to high school and back. I got tired of replacing them and put the eliminator pipes in too. I can see the same thing happening to the mufflers with this car if the mileage is correct. As far as the fuel line, the hard line is in the correct shape. I never understood why they ran rubber line over the exhaust manifold The steel frame line ends at the bottom of the fender
How did they run the line on the '67 & '68 models? I assume the steel line was run under the engine over to the fuel pump?
The lines stopped at the same place on the 68's- at the bottom of the fender. They ran rubber lines through the frame and inside the engine cradle. They exited the engine cradle and into the mechanical pump. The rubber lines come so close to the front spring, there is a clamp that clamps then against the frame for clearance. Theres like 5 feet of rubber lines in the 68 frame! They're such odd cars- fuel lines on the right and battery on the left. ou::error:
I really like the 69 Rivs and want to add one to my collection. One thing puzzels me. Most 69 Rivs I've looked at have one thing in common, the rear bumpers don't seem to line up with the trunk line, they almost look bent. This drives me nuts ! Anyone else notice ?
Jason is dead on in reference to the mufflers. We replaced many with super low miles cause they never got hot enough to burn off the condensation. As far as detailing, I wouldn't of gone the glossy route, I would have relceaned and steamed then just dusted in the bare spots etc. When these cars sit for years without staying on top of them detail wise, they'll deteriorate and look like a high mileage car without moving em. A restored car will need a weeks long detailing (underneath and outside) if it's in storage any long period of time. I dont know what they sprayed all over the engine compartment. Maybe a can of WD40? The under carage has been sprayed. resonators are missing. Theres more to the story than whats being stated. Still a nice car but not for that money.
The same also applies to the front bumpers on 2nd gen. Rivs !! :shock: I noticed that the '69 also has a rare right hand mirror -
I emailed the guy last night and this is the reply I got... sir this is and real deal 8000 miles car documented from estate and through shop who serived vevery six months since new ,you sould not make claims you don't know we bought at barett jackson with full docs not even and question buy the way look at engine never painted just shined no paint of any kind was useed undercoated new we got all paper work car is out of south carloilna and well know in collector world its a shame you don't know them.
