Hope he knows cars better than he spells. I'm no scholar by any means but I do know how to use spell check.

These sellers that get so overly defensive in a reply make me question it more.
    "Shame on you." Really?

    Hi folks,

Some observations for what it is worth. This Riv looks remarkably like my 69 Riv with same colors.

Exterior color is olive beige, the third most common paint for that year. Interior is buckskin color with the vinyl bucket seats with square buttons and short console with shifter on the steering column.

This is most unusual but this Riv has the Guidematic sensor thingy on the driver side front panel. Was this added well after the fact as I do not think Buick officially offered this option for 1969.

Other options I see: Cruisemaster, trunk release vacuum operated (a little red button just behind the glove box door with vacuum line running to trunk lock), cornering lamps, passenger mirror, carpet savers and mats, lower chrome moldings, eight track player.

The undercarriage has most certainly been painted/coated.

The exhaust pipes from the exhaust manifolds to where they curve down and away to the joints to the exhaust pipes before the mufflers look original as they are rusty and heat treated.

Some minor complaints and comments. They really need to install black spark plug wires. Also the coil wire is blue. :puzzled: They replumbed the gas line to the carb with no fuel filter and this is not very prudent especially with today's crummy gasoline with ethanol. The Controlled Cumbustion System vacuum lines under the air cleaner and in front the carb have been replumbed.

As for the exhaust pipes, mufflers, and tail pipes, I am sure that these have been replaced. Every GM car (six Buicks, one Olds, and one Cheby) that I drove from the late 60s and early 70s that also include six Buicks from those years had these components replaced at one point or another. Many times these cars were used for short trips and did not allow all of the water to be evaporated out. Also remember these engines drank leaded gasoline back in the day right up until it was finally phased out in say about 1983 or so. This is my opinion only, but I really do think that leaded gas did contribute to corroding exhaust components back in those days. With that said, I have a stainless steel exhaust pipes installed on my Riv as well. It is what it is (or was it was).

The carpets and kick panel carpets are faded a bit, but again this is par for the course after 44 some years.

The felt black carpet in the trunk is original. This felt material does not wear well at all and Buick piece mealed this together in about seven different pieces. I do not really care for it as it looks a bit shabby.

Well with all of the above said, this is a very nice Riv. It has been well cared for and we all know that our Buicks deserve the very best.

    I know about the resonators.
I meant the longcase mufflers. They are of superb quality. I still have the right side stock GM muffler under my car.
The right side last longer because of the hottest side i guess.

I have seen the Guidematic sensor before on a 1969 Riviera. But it is not mentioned as an option in the 1969 Riviera brochure.
As far as the rest of the car, reading all this and looking at the pictures some more....this car is far from 8,200 original miles!
If he would say to me in for a trade?? I would say no thanks!

You are right! Now I want a working Guidematic for my Riv! :spank: I am trying to collect and install every option available for my 69 Riv minus the GS option. I would never clone my Riv to a Riv GS.

Really? If I ever get my hands on one it's yours if you want.

The only thing I would like to find sometime is the original option of a right side mirror. But I do not know if it was an original option in 1969 for the Riviera??

I would not clone it to a GS too...but it would be nice to have one original. I would like to know the difference in handling because the base Riviera is already
very stiff suspension compared to other base Buicks.

BTW, is your Riviera in the Garage here with pictures??

Yep, I am on the lookout for the right side mirror also. Very hard to come by though as we all want one. The right hand mirrors were installed by the dealer as a dealer option.

OK, just edited my post because I was wondering if your 69 Riviera is in the garage here with pictures?

I have some pics on my wife's camera, but I have not uploaded any to my garage section yet. For what it is worth, I snapped a cell phone shot of my AM-FM radio with the BUICK pushbuttons in my avatar.

I really need to get around to snapping some quality pics of my Riv for uploading to V8 Buick and introduce myself on the "wet behind the ears" pages as this is the protocol around here.

Oh, and yes, I checked out your garage pics. Your Riv is gorgeous. The Strato Bench seats are very comfortable.

The pictures are terrible in this listing. They obviously tried messing with brightness and contrast but doubt it improved anything. Too bad the color isn't more deisreable but it sure doesn't seem to affect the bidding! Once you get past the cheesy engine detailing and the A/C changes it does look like a really nice car and generally unmolested. Exhaust alone can't indicate mileage because along with brakes and shocks fall into the category of items shops love to replace for no other reason than to generate income. I have owned 2 Rivs that had original date coded mufflers and most of the pipes intact and one had over 100k on it (also had orig spiral shocks) and the other is the 66 I'm working on now.

As for the mileage you'd have to see the car in person to determine for sure or see the supposed available documentation with servicing and mileage statements. The latter could clear it up easily if its available.
I think it could be either based on what I see in the pics and think possibly it might be orig miles. I see the driver door armrest is deformed. 8k mi it shouldn't be from usage but it could have been accidently damaged from a one time incident which is possible from the looks of it. The driver door pull itself looks like it hasn't been used which is a positive good sign for low mileage. Those heavy doors take a toll on that type of door pull. Not sure what this will sell for assuming it meets reserve but no matter what its a nice car and its options increase the appeal.

I also wanted to note that the cruise option seemed to be uncommon in the 68-69 models. I see alot more 66-67s with it than 68-69s.

She's at 23 +. Evil bay bidding sure can be false, but it looks like they may have real money there.
Some one thinks the mileage is correct.

Its all bs until tbe reserve is met. A typical scam is to shill bid it to just under reserve. So tbe next legitimate bid meets tbe reserve. Im not saying this is the case, just saying.

Thanks...I am happy with it. Paint is not that great anymore but it is factory original.
I am curious about your Riviera...your avator is a very nice! Do you have the Buckskin interiour as well?

---------- Post added at 09:40 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:33 PM ----------

If you are a Buick nut...you would not touch this car with only 8,200 miles...this just does not look like the real deal to me.
I have seen the real deal in Florida some years ago, a 1968 Riviera with only 16,000 original miles. Only thing changed was the oil and filter.
No signs of wear anywhere. And bumpers lined up 100%.

    Craziness.
The Riviera Red '66 Riviera that has been on there for 6 weeks or more is far more car in my opinion, and it hasn't met reserve. Which I think is in the neighborhood of $23,000.
(I see the latest listing ended today at $12,700, but it will be back.)

I've seen that car as well...a very nice car it is! Strange to see this 1969 Riviera ending higher in $$$

I'm kind of partial to it since it looks just like the '66 I owned, but without the vinyl top.

Btw, do you mean the red one on Ebay they asked $27,500 for at first? They lowered it to I think $25,500
It was without vinyl top and with black bucket seats/interiour.

    That's the one.

I had more faith in that car when it comes to originality.
My favourite is the 69 year, but I thought that the 1966 is worth more $$$...or maybe the 1965 model? I don't know for sure.

My 69 Riviera GS is code 59 Lime Green with a buckskin interior and a parchment top. Although mine has the super deluxe wheel covers. It also has disc brakes.

Next year I will have owned that car for 30 years. Typing that made me feel old!
