the only numbers i can find on my engine are a remanufactured tag that reads 407540 the tag is located on the front passenger side of the block infront of what i beleive is the temp sending unit or oil pressure sending unit can anyone identify this engine the intake has been replaced with a t/a performance stage 1 intake no other markings that are visible any help appreciated thanks chris 1968 skylark custom conv.
Type? Cid? If Buick look behind the intake manifold next to the firewall. The cid is usually cast into the step just behind the intake.
i'll look but that is what i'm looking to find out i was told its a 350 but want to know the year i don't think its original the alternator bracket is set up for a/c but the car does not and did not have it. fire wall is for a non a/c car small airbox etc.
That only narrows the block to between 1972-1981. Look for other casting numbers on heads & manifolds and compare here: http://www.buicks.net/shop/reference/smallblock_casting_numbers.html BTW, to get the head casting numbers you'll have to pop a valve cover off. Devon
is there any possibility of it being a 73-81 block or is it definately a 72 block? if so how can i tell without pulling off the valve cover ? it has a t/a performance intake and aftermarket headers. water pump design or numbers any indication?
Pull a valve cover or find the original engine stamps. http://www.buicks.net/shop/reference/engine_ident_where.html http://www.buicks.net/shop/reference/engine_ident_63_75.html Since the engine's been modified already, you will have to do the homework to get the details. Devon
I finaly got around to pulling off the valve cover and found this number on the head 1248452 f/30 but cannot find any info in the above pages any help appreciated
