First what do some of Tom's rockers cost? WOuld you recommend the TA-25 for a stock engine with only a 2x4 intake with 650cfm carbs
I cannot remember what Tom's rockers run off the top of my head - I'm sure somebody knows the figure. I think the TA-25 would be great for a stock motor and 2x4 intake. Are you going with an Eelco unit, or a factory 2x4? Be aware that you will need to upgrade to TA's stage 1 valve springs with that cam.
I'm going with the Eelco intake. Do you think there would be any difference in performance if I went with a Faso cam instead of the TA-25. Which cam from Carmen? The W30? In terms of the of the W30 vs TA-25, TA-25 hands down. It would work much better in your application. Gessler refers to Greg Gessler (www.gesslerheadporting.com). Well known and does good work. There's a few others who do porting on Nailheads, there just not as "out there" as Greg.

The added benefit of ported heads are added horsepower. With the Level 3 I'd expect 30-40hp, Level 4 maybe 50-60hp? I've never seen flow numbers for Gessler's Level 4, so that's a guesstimate.
So with the 2x4 setup, cam, Tom's rockers and intake exhaust and head porting i'm looking at about a 65hp increase from stock and who knows about increase in torque
I think with that setup you'd be looking at an honest 350hp - realistically 370ish horsepower on an engine dyno w/o accesories. Try and serching for Erik's thread where dyno'd his 425. The build specs are listed in the thread, and I recall them being similar to yours. I want to say he made right around 370hp.

Eric, take a look at the offerings from Accelerated Motion. They have some unique specs! It appears they put some thought into their designs. http://www.amotion.com/amcams.html#14841 Roller rockers are in the $900 range. The TA-25 cam would work nicely for a near-stock build. A bigger cam would be a better match for a car with headers and head work. And I have to stress a wilder engine will lose some low-end power to get those gains at high rpm. The best choices would depend on how you will be driving the car.
Ted Nagles 401 build made pretty decent power (370-ish) with Carmen's head work, the W30 cam, maybe TT roller rockers (?).
yep, best dyno @ 3800 446 torque, 4700 @ 377.2 hp... Single carb, W-30 -10 cam, extrude honed intake and heads...big valves, tried to make about 10:1 compression.
I looked up the TA-25 specs on the website. if you calculate the lobe lift for intake or exhaust and compare between the 1.4 and 1.6 RR, the numbers don't agree. Do this for either intake or exhaust gross valve lift numbers and you will arrive at different lobe lift between 1.4 and 1.6 RR. The compcams specs posted by ErikS calculate to consistent 1.55 RR.
The higher you go with lobe lift the less actual lift is at the valve. You will NEVER get it to calculate correctly. Eric's are averaged.
This is what I measured on a stock 1966 401 cam: Cam lobe lift (max): Int: 0.267" Ex: 0.261" max lift at valve, stock rockers: Int: 0.448" ====> 1.68 ratio Ex: 0.425" ====> 1.63 ratio max lift at valve, TT roller rockers: Int: 0.514" ====> 1.925 ratio Ex: 0.4985" ===> 1.91 ratio :grin:
