In today's market, what is a '70 GS Vert worth? It's super clean, but it's not a 4 speed. Your thoughts? BTW, is the rear wing after market on '70s? - 1970 Buick GS 455 Convertible Documented
I think the paint code 25 is for one of the blues offered that year. Paint code 19 is for black.FWIW.
Non Buick Carb Rear wing added Lots of incorrect hoses, detailing etc that could be easily fixed Color change
Add engine repaint the the list, Saw it up close @ Mecum Spring Classic and the engine paint looked Chevy Orange to me. High bid was $37,500 NS. A small thing I noticed was that on either side of the sill plate ( in side door jamb) passenger side in particular repair was rough and painted over.
The reason they painted those is they were pitted and the cost of having these fixed was another $1000 to $1500. So they filled the pits with body filler and painted them.
Its very obvious that someone not familiar with Buicks restored this car. Whats up with the pre-1970 GM "mark of excellence" sticker and white certification decal? I remember a board member struggling to get 25k for his 70 455 convertible and I think it was just as nice
Probably a rush to restore and get to auction, ........those door jamb places I was referring too were bumpy and rough. I thought, why would you take it that far and not spend the extra $ to fix those areas right.????
What about the boxed rear lower arms and rear sway bar, didnt all the GS 455 covertibles have that as standard?? Mine has them. :beer Paint code 25 is listed as Med. blue metallic in my manual. B is for black top, at least that is correct. Christian
believe it or not, there are actually buyers out there that prefer an automatic over a 4 speed. i would like it better with bucket seats though.
One of Buick's best colors IMO. Changed to Black ? ugh I hope the New owner lives in Alaska for a triple Black convertible ..OUCH :af: DL
This is a great learning experience for me as a relatively new guy to this site and to Buicks. Watching you guys critique what appeared to me to be an extremely nice and correct car has been interesting. As I'm in the market for a GS, it's perfect timing. I don't know about correct or not, but that spoiler doesn't work for me. Just doesn't seem to fit the car. Is that a dealer extra or factory option or neither.
Dang- I should have caught the non air dash pad for an air car... you guys are good i will give you that, I thought it looked ok, but i missed a lot of stuff. Mike
Spoiler not correct - aftermarket. Many, many, many problems with that car starting with "Absolutely Flawless with NO EXPENSE SPARED!" The guy writing this statement is either a liar or doesn't know of what he speaks, in my opinion.
It's reassuring to know that V8 members will always set the facts straight on cars that are advertised as something they aren't. It really helps. :TU:
sellers response to my questions. SELLER: Not pitted car is incredible, I cant answer the other questions without looking at the car and question the validity but take your word for it. Thanks ME: nice GS!! why does it have a non a/c dash pad in an a/c car? why are the headlight bezels and hood chrome painted? are they pitted?
