Scott, that's the body data tag. Are you wanting that to be decoded as well as the VIN? There are several of the other members who can decode that just by looking at the picture. I need to go to the books to find the rest. 71= 1971 43437= GS Coupe Hardtop Z= Fremont 01990 = Unit Number

Found this information in a different post. Information was provided by Jim Lore. "B80 = roof drip molding 506265 550200 = ?? internal plant codes which to my belief remain unknown" Mark
If you send me a larger or higher res picture via email to gsxnut@buickgsx.net I can help you with the Protect-0-Plate. last picture posted. Mark
Yep I think that was what I was told also seems strange to have that since all the hardtops had them unless they had different ones for non vynil cars?
The numbers 510476 and 68030 are internal plant numbers according to Jim Lore and noone knows what they were used for. I do not know what the number were used for either. Mark
I have owned and or parted at least 40 Skylarks and all have had this except the post sedan race car and I thought I have seen others that do not have it
<center>Better picture loaded up in the camera for the POP (Protecto O Plate) I took. Your P.O.P. plate matches your Fisher plate except for the Engine ID. 166 = Saddle Vinyl Buckets 62 62 = Bittersweet mist Upper and Lower Body TO = 350-2bbl , GS cars would have a TD, but these plates are only as good as the person that stamps them. Check your Engine Block. MA = TH350 in GS Cars LAB = 3.08 STD Rear Axle 6 = Build Month- June Option List: 1 = Power Brakes 2 = A.C 3 = Dual Exhaust 4 = Radio, Sonomatic 8 = Power Steering Nice paper trail :TU: David
<center>David, I think I can get a picture of the Engine ID... Where would it be and can I get the camera access to it? Since it is all matching and I've kept it as original as I can, does it mean anything to anybody? Value wise? Your opinion is greatly appreciated here... Thanks PS: I know I changed out the radio... It went Kaputzki years ago.... and for the 2 barrel, It came w/ a 4 Barrel Rochester that way.... I know that for a fact cause of the scoops and matching intake. The hood has never been changed. Also, only one side mirror on the drivers side and it came w/ a Tach instead of a clock.
<center>Roger copy that Dave, I'll get a look this weekend coming up. BE - means pick this decal for 350-4 cars to the final assembly worker. :3gears: I forgot to mention the p-o-p is backward because it was pressed onto carbon paper and transferred to paper so it could be read.
<center> I'm interested in the Build Sheet for this car. David mentioned it may be in the car in various locations... I know it is not under the carpet or back seat. I don't recall it being under in or around the cluster guages.. Not to get off topic, but, I will be relamping, and changing the Instrument cluster w/ one I bought ~ 15 Years ago. It's all bubble wraped been in the garage and in excellent condition, amongst lots of other parts stored from California. The Tack will also have to be exchanged. <img src="http://images.scottfisher.multiply.com/image/1/photos/3/1200x1200/109/GS-006.jpg?et=R5sb5PwohCkaaLevf3ndiQ&nmid=128721847"<img alt="SILVERLIGHT: WHY NOT LISTEN TO LIVE KFOG-FM SAN FRANCISCO, SAN JOSE CALIFORNIA. What does a build sheet look like/ An Example? Links or Pictures preferably, If one has the time. I'm so glad there are experts here, and this combination of the 'Info Age'. Totally amazing! Thanks again you guys. Intersting stuff, I don't know how you all know this stuff. And most of all, Thanks for sharing!
I went outside and looked at my 72 GS 350 it has the numbers like yours that defy decoding except the B 80 Mine had no vynil JK
I found my build sheet on top of my gas tank in my 71. The bad part was it was the build sheet for a different car! It was seven numbers off from my VIN. This is kind of common, the build sheets would get mixed up and stuffed in any car.
