Thanks Mark and Randy I'm aware of both cars the 71 in phoenix isn't as nice as the black one on the board and they also won't come down from 39k, as for the one in Quebec its way way over my 35k limit. Bill

I have been out of the Buick scene for a few years, but am looking to get back in. My uncle has a NOM silver Stage 1 4speed black bench seat car. It has a 72 GS 455 motor now. I can hook you up with him. The car is nice but the paint is not perfect. Overall nice car and well under your limit. Yo can call me at 765-894-1922 Here's the only pic I have of it.

Thanks Mike but that one is way out of my price range, the couple that are in my price range have nom and no docs. Bill

    Bill;
I just saw this on the SF Bay Area Craigslist

    http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/car/583006180.html

A little more than your limit, but it seems cheap for a 4sp 'vert?... they do show the engine code as TS, which I believe is 455 Stage 1, and they show a pic of VIN Plate...

edit... car is discussed in another thread looks like it may be a clone or at least originally an auto.

Only documented 71 stage 1 4-speed convertible; What! They built more than one. Are you thinking 70 3 -speed? Please clarify.

still kind of looking , our buck has really dropped in value, so my budget is a little less as my dollar is worth 20% less. Bill ps I think Dan knows there were 9 made but not many left or documented. Bill

Yes Bill 9 made, and this is the ONLY one KNOWN to be documented (also with matching numbers I believe)!:Brow:

I can't wait to see the car again, the color really pops (strato blue with pearl int.)!!!

Bill, you know I've got two 71GS455 4spd converts. Although the VINs son't say so, I'll tell the truth. One blue one is a GS350 upgrade, said to be one of six GS350 3spd column cars made. The other one is a green numbers matching block, trans car. One of 18 gs455 4pd converts. Now it's with Mike Garrison for completion. And as was said before, in 71 there were only 9 4spd Stage1 cars. So altogether 27 big block 4spd convertibles.

Not many out there. You're looking for a needle in a haystack searching for a ST1 convertible 4spd.

You got me phyched about this, so tomorrow I'm taking the blue car out for a test ride to see how she does. Last time I had her out there was an extra block in the trunk that prevented me from shifting hard. Tomorrow that won't be the case. She's got some clutch plate vibration at slow clutch release, but in hard shifting racing shifts I doubt it will be an issue.

Hi Mike how is it going down there? How is the green convert coming? Are you happy with the work Mike G has done for you? Is he expensive? Are you selling off more cars? Bill

Where do you guys come up with this stuff? I will clarify and the daily car reports are DEAD on accurate (as far as we will ever know).
Nothing was said about 1970, or 3 speed...

    I will type slowwwwly.

Documented 1971 convertible stage 1 4 speed. The only known 71 conv stage 4 speed left in existance. Known and DOCUMENTED being the key words. A total of 9 were produced, and this is ONE of the 9! Like Mike said, you can increase your odds of finding a 71 BBB conv 4 speed by not looking for a stage 1 (then the total produced goes from 9 to 27 total). Either way, NOT easy to find...:kodak:

The cool thing with Mark's car, there was only 2-3 options total. :3gears:

Bill, for you anything is possible.

    70GSX 10-10 455 4spd. One of 55. Expensive.
    70GS Stage1 10-B auto console buckets.
    71GS455 4Spd Convert Blue/tan/black (GS350 upgrade)
    71gs455 auto Convert BSMist/wht/wht
71GS455 4Spd Convert Lime Mist/grn/grn nums match 1 of 18 in resto process
71GSX455 clone black/gold/black auto. to die for.
87GN 17K miles, loaded but no sunroof. Like new except rear tires :)laugh: )

If you're still in the market for another car, maybe I can help. Mike Garrison did a great job on the 70GS Stage1 at a very fair price, better than I would have expected for all the work done to make it right. He's got the green convert now but we haven't started on that yet due to my budget. Hope that changes before too long.

1972 Buick GS 455 400 auto. Older restoration, but very nice car that needs nothing. This car gets alot of attention when driving down the street. Only 1000 miles on the rebuilt drive train. May consider trade.931-742-0074
