Isn't there another member that bought one off ebay a triple black with NOM but with doc's? I remember bidding on it till 4k or so. The trans numbers did match as I recall and he had some documentation
Really John, another documented 71 stage 1 convertible 4 speed was on ebay recently? I surely missed that then.
Seen this one? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Buick-Buick-GS-Stage-1-1971-Buick-GS-Stage-1-455-C-I-345-HP-460-LBS-of-Torque_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ66Q3a4Q7c65Q3a3Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem280297612154QQitemZ280297612154QQptZUSQ5fCarsQ5fTrucks
Is anyone buying vintage cars these days? I don't think the market is very good no matter how good it is you've got. It'll be interesting to see what the next BJ auction tells us about that.
No not recently, several years ago. I just got my account started. Someone here bought it and is restoring it. I deleted the pics but it was a black car with the numbers matching trans and I believe some paperwork showing the A1 option. I remember thinking that 7500.00 was way to much for that car but who knows. I paid less for my numbers matching 72 Stage 1 Suncoupe But its an auto and not a convert.
Dont believe the hype. Ive seen 2 documented 71 Stage 1 4 speed converts red/white and a copper/white both I personally inpected Unless one of them has blown up the last 2 years thats makes 2 out there which does Reeves own?.
I'd be interested to find out as well. I have inspected two 71 Stage 1 4-sp cars. The first was at GS Nationals in 1997 (I think). It was Blue and on a trailer. Seller wanted $10k for the car as it sat. I offer $10k for car and trailer. No deal. The second in 1998 was a twin to the car at Floyd Garrett's Museum except for the transmission; TH-400 vs. 4-sp. I have pictures of this car still. I should have bought it for the $2500 the seller was asking at the time. This car sold throught Hemmings to an collector who has a large number of rare car in a machine shed somewhere in Michigan. This guy apparently never restores the cars but just lets them sit there and rot away. That info is from the seller who delivered the car to him. So, that means that there could be 4 or the 9 cars make still out there. Food for thought.
Hey N36oll..by chance?, is that the late 'Lee Larson's" 71 stage 1 vert in your avatar? If so,...do YOU own it now? Wheelz, Tampa Bay
Hey N36OLL, Do you by chance know of anybody in the Denver area interested in a 72 Stage 1 conv. ? I'm about 330 miles North in Gillette, WY, but I know of a car there that's looking for a new home. Tim tcarson@vcn.com
Hey TCarson...Why do they have to be in the DENVER area to be interested??? o No: I'm in Florida and I could be interested!?!? ou: Wheelz, Tampa Bay
Erik...ThanQ! we are fine...The "sister" car to your fathers is owned by my biness partner Bob Stillwell...THAT car was wrong-red, so we convinced Bob to restore it and paint it the right color Cortez gold...white top, Pearl white interior just like your dads. WAY BACK...I scheduled these two rare cars, "ONE PRODUCTION NUMBER BETWEEN THE TWO, ie: Lee and Bob, to a drag race while in Bowling Green KY, GSNAts, and I have a nice pix of the two launching off the start line in unison! I believe I printed two photos and sent one to your Dad back then...I think it was 1998? That pix has a lot more meaning now. Great to hear from you Erik! Wheelz, Tampa Bay
What documents were presented, and who owns them? I've seen one other, but it wasn't documented, meaning a build sheet, or something with the vin present other than a p-o-p (because we all know how many mistakes were made on them in 71).ray:
