i just finished up some front bumper brackets tonight. they weigh 1.001lbs lol.(thats without paint:laugh: ) sorry tyler i cannot find my bathroom scale to weigh it. my digital one only goes to 10lbs. so its to heavy to weigh. i think its posted earlier in this thread how much a stock one weighs though, they're pretty heavy. Cody
just curious, anyone have the individual convertible parts weights including frame weight difference?
I think I might have the weight or the top frame in the next day or two. I'mm taking it out of my parts car. I can also weight the other parts that make up to top assembly if you'd like.
Swaybar itself is 14 lbs (not sure on end link and brackets), bare 1.25" swaybar is 21lbs. I'm still curious on weight of complete top assembly.
Cro Moly Crossmember: Aluminum Bumper Brackets (Front & Back) Rear Shown Here: Cro Moly Driveshaft Loop: (Use Cro Moly for the Roll Cage Also!) Factory Control Arms (Beef em up, they're still lighter than the aftermarket Pcs!) There's some good stuff here! If you really pay attention to some of these ideas you can loose 500 to 800 pounds !! My stock appearing car is less than 3,200 right now and I have a couple more ideas that should get it under 3,100 and still be TOTALLY Stock Appearing. (It in no way will look like a race car) Great idea to come up with this post! :TU: .
heres the pictures of the brackets. they weigh just over 1 pound each. the slots were they bolt to the frame of the car werent drilled in these pictures yet. id like a chromed fiberglass bumper to go along with them sometime haha  Cody
Thanks for checking but no extra parts were made. We simply fabricated these parts as the restoration took place. .
Took my Tomahawk block to the mechine shop to drop it off and pick up my iron block I am moving out of. And before I put it into the truck I had him weight it. The iron block with a halo-girdle and half fill is 200 pounds exactly. The Tomahawk is to weigh 110 pounds as described by TA Performance. So simple math says that is 90 pounds off the front end.
Todd had his fabricating friend make them for him at his speed shop. I begged him for a long time to make a set for Buizila. He finally did and vowed it would be the last set he'll ever make. Can't charge enough to justify the time invested in making them. If you know of a good fabricator, take a set of the originals brackets and he should be able to make them for you. But be ready to spend $500-$700 for all 8 pieces. They will have no problems holding the stock bumpers. Good luck!
If the keeper of the table wants this info here is what I found 70 through 72 steel doors, crash beams removed, glass and all regulators removed, outside door handle and latching mechanism removed, Factory hinges on the door when weighs. 49 lbs 70 through 72 steel front fenders, no cutting all factory bracing, no rust or repair. 29 lbs
I went ahead and removed the inner air box ( holds the heater core also )and the weight was 10 pounds dry. I bet the water and hoses have to be worth four pounds.
Have you guys done aluminum pulleys and driveshaft/etc too? I saw online a place that seems to list fiberglass rear quarters, not sure how that works.
