hey jay, where did you get the turbo heat sheilds at? or is that just a turbo blanket? ive been eyeing up a pair of these http://www.himni-racing.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=754
They are blankets and have held up well.. Make a huge difference with underhood temps. Just ebay stuff.. Wish I had a link.. Haven't burned my arm since..
I have burned my arm on more than one occasion and it happens in an instant. Every time I think nah I didn't touch it long enough and then in 10 min here comes the blister. By the way I choose the cheapest catch can.
This will save your forearms.. This is the one I bought. Be sure to get the RED ones. We all know that red is faster.. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/T3-T...ptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
Holley crap $200 for a pair, an ice cube and a bandaid and getting the little woman to kiss the bobo is almost free. Well maybe the kiss has cost a little more than $200.
Hey I just ordered up 3 of those blankets and went direct through them and got a slightly better deal. They took 5$ off each and did free shipping to me. Nick
I was just sitting here wondering if an Offy 2x4 with a pair of 650DP blow throughs would be of any gain? I'm sure it might be a tuning nightmare, but then again putting a pair of hair dryers on a 455 is not easy either with the learning curve you've been through. Just a thought.
Turbo setup with a pair of 4bls would need to be much smaller. Maybe a pair of 400 or smaller. Besides I think we would only gain more problems with a duel setup. But in hoods up racing I bet a twin turbo 2 x 4 would win every time against a twin turbo single 4. Problem is I don't race hoods up I race with a time slip:TU:
After I got thinking about it, maybe a pair if 390's or even a couple of 350 CFM holley two barrels. Now that would turn some heads, get out run by a Buick 455 with a couple of two barrel carbs. Might work, two barrel holleys are cheap if you look around in the salvage yards and such. They might even be easier to tune. Now I've got myself thinking about it.
yes, i pair of holly 390 blow through carbs with a custom intake made like the old mopar 413 wedge head lol
another good turbo, this one has gotton alot of great review for being built like a tank lol y2004k gt45 http://www.ebay.com/itm/GT45-TURBOC...Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item2c6155e75c this is with 1.05 hot side with twin scroll housing seller is speed_daddy
Getting close to getting the MSD 6530 programmable digital 6al-2 box. This will allow me to lock the ignition and laptop tune the non boost and Boost timing curve. It will also allow for a two step so that I can actually build boost on the starting line without pushing through the tree. I am also getting close to putting a twin setup on the 67 lark w/455 it currently runs 9.00 in the 1/8 at 4500 ft. the 67 is a lot lighter than the skymaro. Money is tight so projects are moving slow right now.
I hear your james..least you been having fun with those hairdryers...i still have yet to put mine on. but this springs that should change for sure!
Will you be retarding the timing while on the 2-step? I may be able to hay wire a setup on the wagon where the timing can be retarded while staging.
When you get your 2 step/ msd box hooked up log some 2 step attempts...1 retarding the timing, 1 doing nothing, and 1 adding a few degrees. You'll be able to graph time, and boost together and I'll guarantee taking away timing will have a slower spool time
Expansion of gases (exhaust) AND heat spools a turbo, the added timing will create more heat and spool faster Now if it was on a manual Trans car you would want to retard the timing because the motor doesn't have a load on it
