I have a Tomahawk block on order, hopefully due to arrive at T.A. early September 2013. I have a couple questions to the guys that have their engines up and running : 1) Apart from ones particular machining preferences & requirements, what needs to be done to the block? Is there any other prep that should be done?( Heat cycling or cryo) 2) Has anyone had any failures with this block? My build will be 725-775 HP, Stage-2 & roller cam. You definitely should heat cycle it. My buddy made up a fixture using radiators, heaters, and pumps and has run the motor up and down in temp 20 plus times. Cheap insurance, there is a lot of material there, the block is beefy and is much heavier than advertised.

As far as I know, no one has a block fail yet. Cant see it happening for a while. As far as heat cycling, I dont think its really necessary, other than normal break in procedure. Aluminium block and heads will expand at a similar rate unlike cast iron block and aluminium heads. My Tomahawk is running 8-900hp and runs great. Cheers

I had a change in plans and will use my current rotating assembly ( 464 c.i. ) so my engine will probably only make 700 HP...but my questions still stand. Do any of the manufactures heat cycle their blocks? What about Dart, and the other aftermarket players.
