I'm hoping someone has a good method to attach the side windlace for the headliner. I can tell it was glued once, but it has pulled away and it doesn't stay put. My trouble area is on the driver's side between the shoulder belt hooks. Any advice from the group? I'm thinking about clear Goop glue and ratchet straps.
I didn’t glue mine. It was all press fit on. If I remember right, there were all metal strips around the roof the headliner glued to and then press fit the windlace onto that. I’ll have to dig up some pictures.
I am not sure that piece is "windlace" but it doesn't need glue. It's got a metal core that goes over the headliner on the interior and the metal board that mounts the headliner on the outside.
Yup, that is the windlace.. it just pushes on the headliner/headliner support. No glue is required. You might have to compress the windlace to close up the gap in the metal piece that is inside the windlace, so that it grabs the headliner/headliner support firmly. Should be a little tough to push on. Try a soft face dead blow hammer if you can't install it with your fingers. If it just falls off, then definitely you might have to remove the entire windlace, put it on a bench or other flat surface, and then carefully hit it with the deadblow hammer to compress the metal piece inside of it. Apparently a previous owner was not aware of this, and glued it on, I have seen that before. Good luck with it JW
That stuff just presses on. I used a set sheet metal tongs to tighten up.. rubber or wood hammer.... done... this tool will work like the tongs.https://www.harborfreight.com/8-in-...xed2Vvamq3A9H7DT9kpdWM47QAq3kwXBoCtkwQAvD_BwE
I spent some time with this on Friday removing the excess glue and the A-pillar cover and the panel above the rear armrest. Clamping the metal core with the sheet metal vice grips worked well. It went right back on working it from front to back of the car. The window weather seal also fits much better now! Thanks for the help everyone.
