Just installed the TA HEI last night and being obviously bigger at the base than points distributor, it is hitting the steel fuel line to carb. I've tried the stock fuel line as well as Inline Tube replacement which is bent differently. On a 1968 Skylark 350-4bbl Any suggestions on what works? Thanks Jeff
Cut the steel line about where it comes up near the water pump and run it as a rubber line past the HEI and then into the carb. That’s how I’ve run it. I have since switched to bendable copper line. Why I didn’t say that earlier, I do not know.
I would hesitate to run rubber fuel line near the distributor. Can you bend the line some or make your own line?
If you want, you can run a braided -6AN line between the fuel pump and carburetor. All you need is a conversion fitting at each end, 5/8-18 to -6AN, same fitting at the fuel pump. https://quadrajetparts.com/fuel-inlet-adapter-fitting-p-369.html?osCsid=lsqp1iub1ppd6bsap4puesb4d3 Then just make up a braided line.
Thanks for all the ideas and quick responses Just installed new cam and lifters and such and was eager to get this running last night but fuel line stopped me in my tracks. Bought car with engine partially tore down so havent heard it run at all yet Thanks Jeff
I had the same issue, I just carefully bent the line to clear the distributor. Later on I went ahead and bent my own Stainless 3/8 line.
