I've got a 69 Gladiator, 4 speed T-18 transmission, with the Buick 350, 2-bbl. My exhaust manifold is cracked beyond repair (tons of tiny cracks going all the way through, looks like a dried up pond.) Does anyone know of a header set that fits, a previous thread here states that they may get in the way of the clutch linkage. Or, does anyone know where I can get a good set of cast iron manifolds, (well I really only need the drivers side but obviously would buy a set.) Any and all help is appreciated.
A jeep? I would think you have lots of room in there. Where is the steering box, in front or behind the front axle? And where are you?
350 Exhaust manifolds are cheap and sometimes free. I gave away some but I only have 455s left. I charge 25 dollars for those just to give you some price point. Just start a thread under the section here entitled “Parts wanted”. Being a 4 speed could present an issue for using full headers. TAPerformance sells 350 Buick shorties. An issue is headers may not have been test fitted on Jeeps.
Thanks! I've looked over the taperformance website but I'm only seeing full length headers. Still cheaper than I've found other places. Guess I'd rather have shorties if I had that option, but I haven't even seen a single set.
It seems that way for every distributor. Nonetheless, these long tubed headers are cheapest I've seen, and if I have to modify some, I'd rather do it on a cheaper set. Thanks again
Talk to Mike at TA - he may have some helpful insight and be able to give you measurements or other information. Other than OEM manifolds, those might be the ticket!
I'll give TA a call, although I saw a thread from 2013 (I think) where they were trying to fill 25 orders for shorties before design and production so idk if it ever came to be. My gearbox is in front of the axle and I doubt headers would interfere, I'm more concerned with the clutch linkage, being mechanical instead of hydraulic there's not much wiggle room. Trying to not butcher the truck on this restoration.
Did you you ever get the headers figured out? Was looking to replace the stock manifolds on my 70 Waggy
I ended up finding a stock manifold on eBay for $70. I blasted and exhaust primed them but have yet to install.
