I bought the cast iron frame pads but don’t see a way to thread the bolt into them inside the frame there’s no access that looks do-able…What’s the secret?
Extension and a stiff swivel. It is 100z easier if the lower control arm is out. If not, you need patience.
Years ago when I put the BBB in the 84 Trans Am I drilled the frame mounts out so I could nut and bolt them. That made the job 100x easier/faster in that chassis. I'm sure I would have been docked points if it was judged though.
Patience and a couple swivels as well as various length extensions. I also use electrical tape on the swivels to keep them firm.I also get the bolts started before attempting putting a ratchet on as well..It will try your patience... If you.jack the car up or use a lift,it will help alot.
Yea that’s kinda what I been trying and what a Pain !!! I was hoping for something magical it took me more than an hour to do one side geez!! I even drilled a hole so I could see what I was doing, dock all the points they want!
Yea that dawned on me AFTER I put my suspension back together thinking it sure would have been easier before I did that dummy!
Yea 9/16, but what a nightmare, could GM give a few more holes to stick crap and see what you’re doing?
Yeah a wobble socket would be perfect for this. The holes are juuuuust off kilter for the big block mounts
Make sure you have a flexible magnetic retriever…you most likely will drop them inside the frame…that thing is a lifesaver..
Yes that’s the method I used for first bolt, I’m short another swivel to get the last bolt in on drivers side, it’s takes 2 swivels.
Note to all, drill a hole for easier access. That crossmember is plenty strong enough. Also enlarge the bolt holes slightly.
