Things have been quiet again. So, here's something to look at. I finally got the hood painted and new slicks mounted. Next Saturday we're going to the track.
Thanks guys. When I was building the car I had an old set of 29.5 x 10.5 Phoenix's as a mock-up. They cleared, but it's pretty tight and they rub going around a corner. With the advice of some trusted racers I decided to go with 30 x 9 Radial Hoosiers for the GSM race at Salem. I am certain they will be quicker than bias slicks. After that I might go back to 29.5 x 10.5 for "bracket mode" and consistency. What will it run? AAAAHHH! Shame on you! This is a heads up class. We'll see. o No: Have fun.
Jeff Real nice! Clean and direct with that "I mean business" look. Should be a real threat to the competition, but as all you guys say, "its all stock with a few small bolt on's" ...well sort of:Brow: Best of luck and many fast runs at the track. Rick
Damn Jeff Hell I'm scared already and I haven't heard or seen it run yet. Looks like it should fly. I have worked on my car a total of about three hours I think Jeff Heart has spent more time working on my car than I have. I'll be ready for norwalk but may not be in full GSM trim. Just ready to race.
I like it ...........:Brow: :TU: Very clean and " right to the point look " :Smarty: :3gears: :3gears:
Car looks good,Jeff! I hope it flies for you. It looks like an old competitors car from a few years ago that ran in GSE. His name was Bill Locke and he was from Florida too. I wish I could say that I "finally"got my hood painted. I do have the scoop mounted and it is ready for paint.
Bobb, the least you could do is spell Jeffs name ryt.....You are not pullin' a Brian on us and waiting till the last minute to START working on that car or are you??? If you are pullin' a Brian on us, do it all out and bring the car to the motel, then start working on it!!
Funny you mention that. I met Bill one time back in about 1996. At that time I was racing an Olds in Pro ET and I went to a BOP race in Gainesville. I met Bill through another Buick racer I know. That was my first real exposure to the GSE class. I still have pictures of Bill's car I took that day. I believe his car was an original Stage 1, white car with white interior. My car is a GS 350 that was changed to white before I bought it and it has Saddle interior. Bill's car was a beautiful restoration. The last I heard, Bill sold his car and moved to Minnesota, but that was several years ago. I haven't seen the car since. I wonder where it went? Bobb, I wouldn't be too scared. As you know, these cars take time to get right. You all are several years ahead of me there. I'm relying on previous experience to get the car close, but I need time to get "all the planets lined up". Thanks. Have fun.
Very nice Jeff. I'm sure you'll get it sorted out in short order. Can't wait to see it. By the way, looks like your grass needs mowed. It's the same thing around my place every year. Trying to get the car back together for Norwalk while I ignore the tall grass and the mean looks from the neighbors.
Gary LOL I Miiissed the ERRRorer Well to both you and Perry I have been working on customers stuff for the last three months I am almost caught up but not quite I should be ready for Norwalk. Two weeks ago the words I'm not going to be at Norwalk with the car crossed my lips. The more I thought about it the more I knew I had to be there the track hooks to good and et's are so quick I can't miss that. I'm wondering how many guy's plan on coming we had a list started but it died after I made mention that we all toss money in a pot and race for that. I for one have no desire to look for a sponsor for the race. I just would like to know now that it is just around corner who still wants to race. I know Hart will be there and I plan on it. Gary has said if we have cars there he will come. Is there more that have plans on making it.
Oh I can see it now,all the fish hooks are getting ready to be set!!! Start reeling boys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok, y'all, I'll spill the beans on the initial testing of my GS. Air was good, track was good, slight cross wind. Car was GSM legal. I made five passes. Two were wasted because someone ... ahem ... forgot to hook up the secondary accel pump after changing jets. Guess who? (stomp on gas pedal, motor dies. Hmmmm). I made minor adjustments to get a good baseline. Best pass was: 60' - 1.46 1/8 ET - 6.65 1/8 MPH - 103+ 1/4 ET - 10.508 1/4 MPH - 125+ Now I can start putting the bag of tricks on the car. :3gears: So, y'all can just show up at Salem expecting 10.50's. I'll be waiting! :bglasses: Have fun.
