Everyday Performance LLC is now offering this electric conversion kit for 1968-1974 Buick divorced choke quadrajets. It is a carb mounted design, Patent Pending. Fits on the 1968-1969 "short" choke bracket just as well as the "long" 1970-1974 bracket. It clears most any intake, be it stock cast iron, or aftermarket aluminum on any engine size. It fits well under most any air cleaner - stock, GS dual snorkel, even Edelbrock drop base cleaners. I currently have 5 hand made kits ready to ship. $65 shipped apiece for these 5 introductory kits. A production run is in the works. Beat the cold weather and start your engine with ease! Convert to electric choke!
455 SP1 intake / 455 Performer intake / Stock cast intake 71 GS aircleaner / Edelbrock drop base cleaner
Outstanding Ken! I was honored to try one on my 455. It is never coming off! It works flawless!! Was looking for a solution, as I blocked off the heat crossovers on my Performer Intake, yet still wanted to use the 1971 Q-Jet. There are zero clearance issues with the snorkel air cleaner. 2 pumps, it stars immediately up the fast idle. Touch the pedal when appropriate and it goes down to regular idle. Glad to see your patent is moving forward Ken!:TU:
yes the kit was designed specifically to install on that style carb, on the oem choke bracket Full installation instructions included. I will send you a pm thanks.
Sure thing Briz. Sending pm. It should be mentioned here that in the case of carbs with modified idle calibrations (like yours and Jaystoy's), the choke flap will need to be set a bit open when cold. The enriched idle circuit would flood the engine if the flap were allowed to close all the way because the circuit can flow much more fuel than stock. Simply put, set it so the flap is maybe 1/4 open when cold, and adjust from there.
Kits shipped today, usps priority mail Two left These are great for performance applications with blocked off heat crossovers.
If I didn't have EFI I would be all over this. Looked forever for an electric choke to use when I ran a Q-Jet. Don't know if you can get the bolt on coil from Edelbrock anymore but even that is not a solution when the crossovers are blocked and the intake takes forever to get warm. I would buy one of your kits just to put on the shelf with the carbs for "someday" but I'm currently short of funds... Hope some people snap these up and you do a run of these. Do forum rules allow you to post about this in the Bench area? You are not going to get a lot of traffic down here in the industry only area...
To the guys who have bought kits- I would be very interested in your thoughts on the kit once you have installed it. Any and all thoughts on the components, instructions, ease of install, overall utility of the kit would be appreciated. I am still refining this device to make it as user friendly as possible. Email your thoughts to ken@Everyday-performance.com
Or I could ship carb to you for your professional rebuild and choke parts installation.. just let me know and thanks
