Guess my turn to ask....I've been searching V8 and not sure exactly which is correct Oil Dipstick for a 1970 GS455 Stage 1 flint build first week of January 1970 with power disc brakes. Is it the dip stick and tube? or is it just the dip stick in the block? I've seen info where the early 1970 builds have the dip stick straight in the block even for power disc brakes. And the tube was added later in 1970. Thanks!
Duane put together a good overview of dip sticks and tubes on page 2 of this thread: https://www.v8buick.com/index.php?threads/correct-oil-dip-stick-for-a-70-stage-one.300508/page-2#post-2489820 quoting Duane: “1970 Only GS with Power brakes got the tube and the tube is much straighter. I have 2 versions of the 70 assembly manuals but can't read the rev date on the late copy, therefore this is good thru at least 12/8/69.”
@BUQUICK Thanks! I did not see that thread while searching. So it sounds like a 1970 needs the tube and a straighter version at that. not sure what a “lesser curves straighter” version looks like.
The original thread has much more information than what I pasted above so anyone doing dip stick research, check here: https://www.v8buick.com/index.php?t...for-a-70-stage-one.300508/page-2#post-2489820
