Finally got everything back from Machine shop for the 470, put it back together and ready for paint. While it was apart did some gasket matching on the TA/SE heads and intake.
With a bunch of to be expected head banging we got the motor back in! Now just here’s and there’s before we can turn it over!
Buttoning up the freshly painted cowl with an original screen provided by pops today and I can confirm the rumor; factory workers did sometimes leave things in the cars as they rolled down the line! Almost buttoned it all up with pops lost cigar half in the cowl!
Yup, thanks pops. I only had to scrub it with a toothbrush and straighten a couple parts. Looks brand new.
In the constant, unending, unyielding pursuit of perfection I continue to learn… Thanks to Brett Slater of Vader fame I’ve corrected my washer fluid reservoir cap, removed an incorrect valve cover decal, removed an incorrect heater hose hook, and added the yellow transmission cooler line clip he sent my way. Thanks to Hector, Carhex I now have a fully rebuilt, non leaking, date code correct steering box, new rag joint and Pitman Arm. Thanks to Todd Miller for a million a one correct bolts, clips, hoses, etc. I do expect an invite to the graduation when the kids get through whichever college I’ve funded
Todays work included routing the heater hoses, swapping in the new steering box, hand stapling the inner fender skirts, painting the power steering pulley and brackets, wrapping the harness in fresh nonadhesive vinyl, hooking up the exhaust and cleaning cleaning cleaning. Racing to get done for BG!
