Brian does Moser still have "street" and "race" material.....I bought Moser "street" axles to replace my twisted stock axles back in 99 or so...and twisted the piss out them after maybe 5 passes....called and raiser hell and was told I should have got their "race" axle
Will do. Moser said the invoice # was too old to pull info. I'll measure tonight when I get off work.
PM Monzaz and ask him to give you a more current Invoice #. That is what I did back then. He orders the axles all the time.
They can pull any of mine. Just ask for Jordan. Hugger is also correct. There is no warranty. I have seen them twisted and snapped. I’ve had this discussion with them more than once. “Nothing we can do.” You could also talk to Brian Balser at Mark Williams. They are definitely a better shaft, which is also why they are $800.00/pr.
The stock 28-spline shafts will hold up in a typical footbrake automatic 3800lb A-body,down to 11:80’s. Anything that causes more blunt force will stress it sooner. I’ve seen some fail in a 12-sec car and some make it 11:20’s. It’s a similar situation for the Moser shafts. I have built plenty of 8.5’s that take a massive beating, flirting with 8’s,but just this past year there was a member on this site that broke one in a 12sec car. I still think it was a defective shaft or the process, but again,”nothing we can do”. I also recently had a rear behind a 1200HP blown stick-shift application. we found the limit for the Tru Trac unit, but the shafts look perfect.
Thanks Larry, I got ahold of monzaz and purchased a set of axles and he hooked me up with a gear set as well. I picked them up yesterday at his shop and got pick his brain a bit.
Thank you guys again, I just finished up reinstalling my rear end under the car. I really appreciate all the help! Here are some before and after pictures
Brian told me to leave out the plug when I rebuilt mine a few months ago, you installed yours, I wonder what’s the difference?
The spacer, cap, and snap ring are for c-clip shafts. I leave them out for bolt-in axles,so the spacer isn’t floating around between the shafts and gears. Here is one that I machined for a 68-70 Buick 8.2”. I leave it just like this.
yep, not needed for bolt in axles. don't through them aways as they are interchangle between many gm rear like chevy 8.2 and 8.5 buttons can bee machine to fit other apps.
