Adam, how much time and color is used on the roof since it's getting vinyl? the last one we got back was pretty finished and we da'ed it some to give it texture for gluing top. Of course top guy said it's not really necessary with the glue that's used.
I painted and cleared it like there was no vinyl top going on. I won't likely cut and polish, though. My top guy said he DA's them if they're shiny, though.
My parents had a Torino wagon for a short time I think it had rust by year 2. I hated that car for as many years they owned it.
Would you mind sharing a picture of this tool I will be doing mine shortly and dont like some of the options I borrowed in the past and it will be bare engine compartment as well.
To get the spring back in, I had to use the fork thing (technical term) under the lower control arm and compress it with the spring. When I took them out, I compressed the spring by itself.
I was looking for one that had both sides as hooks for the spring coils, but couldn't find one without ordering it. I needed it that day and this is all Auto Zone had....I "rented" it for $50
Those tool rentals are a great deal. Did that with Advanced Auto when doing my upper control arm bushings.
This is what used last time on a bare chassis (long time ago). Can't remember if I had to do anything special to get the lower control arm up enough to feed this in but if so it was no big deal. No way for the spring to pop out and didn't mar any surfaces. Could probably even make a couple little improvements.
That’s what my homemade compressor looks like. I fed it through the shock hole and them through the bottom of the control arm.
Front suspension mostly complete. It’s back on the ground now. Need to carve the grime off the engine and trans before the weather turns to crap again.
I'm waiting on the machine shop to fix a couple bolt holes on the RH head and timing cover. Once those get back, I can put the engine back together and stick it back in the car. Working on the first cut on the clear right now.
